As with other vehicles in the past, when my free trial expired I simply did nothing. Sure enough, I soon received a letter asking me to sign up. They've just sent a second letter, just a couple of weeks later, with a better offer.

This time the offer says "6 Months free" which is essentially just a 50% off for a year-long sign on. It brings it to just over $7 per month.

What deals have you scored?

With one of my previous vehicles, I was able to renew for $77 for one year, then repeat the following. The third year thy refused so i bailed. I tried calling back to get the offer a few times but no dice - Other owners of the same vehicle had no problem for 5+ years to renew at the special rate.

Total cost for year is $94. Includes taxes and royalties. Just the XM and not the traffic or any other options. They also thanked me by trying to charge me $3 for the traffic trial I finally got them to turn on after I bought the SF. I bluntly told them no way were they charging me for the trial. Had to call back and get a different sales rep to get the $94 a year. Keep calling if you don't get at least that low. Also, they will charge you $2 to send you a invoice even if you pay with CC. Don't let them tell you they will send a invoice. They charge to do that and don't let them keep your cc on file.
XM tries to get as much as they can. Their business practices aren't the best but you can only deal with them. No other options.
Google xm subscription deals. You should find a few forums that you can find the most up to date deals they are offering.
BTW, mine shut off before Christmas. No warnings, no programming avail. I would have thought they would contact me before the trial expired.

Good luck

With my prior vehicle, I had subscribed to XM for quite some time. Deciding that I really didn't use it very much, I let it go. It wasn't long before the letters and calls from XM began. I finally resigned with them. When the smoke cleared, I got the service for $25 every 6 months. That deal was in effect for 1 and 1/2 years....right up until I got the Santa Fe. It will be interesting to see where they stand when my trial period is up this time around.

I have to admit they have the WORST customer service of any company i have ever called. This may sound horrible but, you can never speak with anyone that speaks english. I have 5 radios on my account and after 6-7 calls to them and finally threatening to cancel my account i am down to $87 a year per radio. If there was another sat company i can assure you i would be with them.

isn't sirius XM the comapny that gave Howard Stern some ungodly amount - so when my free trial expires not renewing.

But do have a question about Sirius - if you subscribe can you buy a Sirius radio for the house using the same subscription ?

I ask because when I elk hunt one of the guys has Sirius and hooks into a sound system on a camper and it makes for great campfire tunes. But it's not being fed from his car radio unless he pulls it out of his car - which may have been the case because you can buy add on receivers for a car ?

Best deal I found today was 5 months for $28.11. Apparantly all the "deals" you see online at different websites are a fluke and don't work.....at least that is what I was told today. I seen $24.99 for 6 months and even gave the website and was told it was not valid.

I certainly do not like how Sirius XM works, 6 months ago it was 1.25 hours on the phone to get a deal, today approx 25 minutes.....Not sure it is all worth it. I asked how I could sign up for "Promotions" for the next time, in 5 months, and she said there is no way to sign up for promotions....Huh, doesn't make sense, when she asked me if I received a promotion......

I am also on one of the six month "teaser" rates... but in the small print it says that at the end of the six months it will automatically renew at the current rates....LOL so be careful to either cancel it before the end of the six months ... and keep a close watch on your credit card statement at the end...or cancel that card so they can't bill to it !! I do agree that they are a terrible company to do business with.... but I like the radio...haha

I got it free for 6 months after the end of the trail. I called them and told them I couldn't afford it, they offered a number of different packages/prices, I kept saying that I couldn't afford them so they gave me 3 free months for 2 radios to keep me as customer. When the 3 months was up, I called up and repeated the same speal and got another 3 months free. After that they gave me 6 months for $20 (for 2 radios)...

Wow, I'll definitely try this speech next time I call!

I got the following 3 months (after the free trial) for 12$, which makes it at 4$ per month. I have to call after that in order to cancel/get a better deal, because otherwise they will charge me the full price...No way!

Thanks for the tips, it might work for me too!

I just renewed mine recently for 6 months of XM Premier. Includes the Sirius channels like Howard. $40.11 TOTAL including $2 Invoice fee, and all other fees.

I don't like giving these guys my credit card info, so I had them send me an invoice, and my wife paid by check.. by the way, that's a ONE TIME thing. They cannot draft against my account again. They will auto-renew and bill me again in October, so, I'll have to cancel and play the game again.

I also agree that even though Sirius and XM merged as one company (GM uses XM, Ford Sirius) one hand does not know what the other is doing. Trying to combine two accounts for two different cars is like pulling teeth (even more so if one is GM the other a Ford), the on line chat/service is horrendous, very bureaucratic rules and as noted customer service is one of the worst I ever encountered, up there with VERIZON. Anyway, got a renewal offer for 6 months at $4.99/month and after that will go to 9.99/month with two radios registered. I hate the misleading advertising as well as they do not include the fees and taxes so 4.99 actually comes to just over $6/month. I have their traffic on one car and will be dropping it at renewal as it is worthless, too many times they tell me an accident or construction ahead and nothing there and also the opposite. Just a worthless service!

If more people would actually just pay for the **** service rather than trying to scam every last penny out of the company, maybe they could keep the service at a reasonable price. Sheesh, do you guys nickel and dime EVERYTHING in life?

It's a radio service that provides premium, unadulterated, uncensored content for a FEE by employing the use of bloody satellites in space. Of COURSE it's going to come with a price attached. If you don't like the service and have nothing good to say about it, cancel your **** subscription.

I have to respectively disagree with your "nickel and dime" comment. XM costs vary from free to $79 (perhaps more), for a period of time for the same product. XM sets the price. You may feel the person paying nothing is a scammer, but I feel he/she is just playing the price game with XM.

Isn't XM scamming the people paying the $79 (or high) price when they can, and do, sell it for less?
