I'll probably be getting a front strut bar sometime when it fits my tight budget & I noticed that KFX sells a rear strut bar also. Does that help as much as the front or is that overkill? Also I saw a pic of some sort of braces under the engine. Just wondering, what are these? http://kfxperformance.com/ixxocart/product...e-2910-143.html

The braces under the engine won't make a noticeable difference. Look at the size of the subframe. It's not made of 20ga steel. It's thick stuff and won't flex much. Save your money. A rear strut bar should make a difference but not the one from KFX because it has joints. A good brace is one solid piece. The joints are a major weakness.

iirc the rear brace would help more to reduce understeer. I've never seen a picture of one installed. Anyone? I wouldn't bother with the lower tie bars or whatever they are. They may do something, but its probably not worth the cost.
There's better ways to reduce understeer before the brace really helps. Upgraded sway bays for instance, only the rear is available, and it's useless without being tied to the chassis.

Well, the best way I could think of to reduce understeer would be to swap in an SE rear anti-sway bar. (if not already equipped) This all seems rather academic since the OPs budget may not allow much. If reducing understeer is the goal and a wide wheel/tire combination is not in the budget, disconnecting the front sway bar might be the only option.

I am still very interested in seeing pictures of the KFX rear brace installed, if anyone has any.

Another way to reduce understeer is to remove the front sway bar. It's not a good idea on a stock suspension though :D
I think that's what I just said. The only downside to disconnecting the front anti-sway bar I know of is increased body roll. It should be OK on otherwise stock suspension. It's just a matter of preference and the only way to find out is to try it. Luckily it doesn't cost a dime to try it both ways.

Theres no rear sway on the SE. It got an upgraded swaybar for the front.

In that case perhaps a base model swaybar on my car would help turn-in a great deal for autocross.

Anyways I think DalwinCo probably has the rear brace. I know he has a lot of them installed.

LePapirrikY: Here's the bar I was talking about...

omg grip: Really? It seems foolish to upgrade the front and leave the rear alone for a sport model. The GS has an understeer problem as it is. You seem to know your stuff but just to be sure here's pic of a torsion beam sway bar setup.

I've seen plenty of pictures of the Ultra Racing rear "sway bar." What I would like to see is a picture of the "rear strut bar" sold by KFX installed in an MC(or a contemporary Rio). Like this one here: http://kfxperformance.com/ixxocart/product...r-2179-143.html Ever have one of those installed?

I don't doubt that Rios or other models of Accent came without rear sway bars. But it seems strange that the Accent SE had none as well. I just want to know for sure whether or not that is the case.

That's why I want to see a picture of one istalled. I have no idea how it could mount without at least using nutserts in the pre existing holes near the top of the struts, inside the car.

You have an SE right? Have you ever looked inside the channel of your torsion beam?
