Just got a Sonata. loving it :)
One thing I was missing on the nav is the speed limit of the rood you are driving on. Is there any way to enable it?
Also have there been regular/any firmware/maps update to nav and where to get them from and how to install.

Thanks

Speed Limit Update?

I just recently updated the maps via USB from MnSoft for my 2011 Sonata 2.0, and two things stand out:

1. Temp display doesn't work
2. Speed limit as option doesn't show

MnSoft told me via phone conversation that they are working on a "patch" for the temp display and all who updated through them would receive the patch.

But, has anyone any information regarding the speed limit display?? I mean if it's not an option, then why have it in the setup menu??:D

This is the one area of Hyundai that fries my a$$. When they wanted to add some PREMIUM audio to their vehicles, they turned to Dimension and Infinity. Why, oh why, did they turn something as important as navigation over to a piddly, two-man operation such as MapNSoft? It makes absolutely no sense. Let's see... a major player like TomTom can provide you with downloadable updates FOUR TIMES A YEAR for less than $50 total, but this clown outfit charges $199 and you have to get a USB drive? Oh, how tech-savvy! Are they still communicating via faxes, as well?

OK, rant over. Back on topic, I have a brand-new SE, and I thought it DID show the speed limit on my trip to Chicago over Thanksgiving, but I must be mistaken. Other than that trip, I haven't needed to use the nav too much in the first 2 months. Now, I want to go check it out, but the weather is really poor tonight, so tomorrow...

Has speed limit info but does not use it

I just picked up my 2013 Sonata SE two days ago and am floored to find that while yes it displays the speed limit for the current road, it does not use that information to calculate the route and ETA. Instead, it classifies roads into three groups: residential, main and freeway (and it does that inaccuracy) and then uses a set speed for each class. As a result, last night I was on a 50/55 MPH road but it was calculating the time based on 20 MPH.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there a fix?

Did you modify/enter the "Speeds Driven" by You in each of Those 3 road categories as I did (then uses a set speed for each class)? On a 3.5 hr trip I missed the projected arrival by only 2 minutes.

Yes but it is miss-classifying a 50/55 MPH parkway into the residential bucket. Further, by using these generalities, it does not accurately select the fastest route.
MapNSoft Sppt .......... 714-775-0727........... 8-5 PST

Can't recall BUT I assume there is / you Are Clk'ing a Save Button B4 Exiting your mod'd entries for the 3 category Driving Speeds, so it would seem calling Sppt is in order.

I noticed that if you Clk Arrival Time to be Displayed it ALSO Shows Travel Time too. Only showed one-at-a-time for me prior.

Good luck on your issue.

I'm trying to document any obvious navi/audio glitches before warranty expiration on my 2011 in a few hundred miles [e.g. outside temp loss]. Even though speed limit display is activated in setup, I have seen no indication of it while driving on any roads around Atlanta.

How, when and where should I be seeing it? I called MapnSoft and was told "we don't have a clue. Call Hyundai".

I see it in a SMALL Box at lower/left-of-center Map Area. I would NOT (necessarily) expect to see it on Peachtree St BUT verify that you see it on I-285/I-85/I-75. I'd think something is Wrong IF Not displayed there.

I'm guessing the Display Logic has to be (ie) Interstates, State Rd's-Hiways - County Rds maybe?. Cahaba Valley Rd here is Hwy 119 but I'll have to drive it and post back as I can't remember IF the data shows while on it. For starters Chk one of the I-xx's for data and let us know.

Well, the car needs to be serviced anyway, so I mentioned it when making the appointment, although it's not a major issue. I don't recall the speed limit display when I was on I-75 recently, although at the time I wasn't specifically looking for it.

My son says he hasn't noticed it either--just an indication of average speed??? His reliability as a witness is a tad suspect, being the navigation-resistant type, apparently of the opinion that he already knows how to get to anywhere worth going.

Gerald, FWIW, Cahaba Valley Rd/HWY 119 shows 55 in a White Box/Black Letters NEXT TO the Map Scale # (ie) .5mi - BUT - THIS is on NEWEST Sftware (10/1/12 Ver Update)...

The Dealer can surely Verify IF it's working. Good luck!
