Speed Limit Display doesn't always work

I have the Speed Limit sign on my cluster.

Car has sat for a while (probably over 1 hour, but not sure). On startup, the sign does not show unless I'm parked on a street with a known speed limit. Speed limit sign displays on some roads, while gone on other roads (it doesn't know the speed limit on that road). This seems to be normal operation.

I go to a store. Upon startup the speed limit sign always displays but with "---" as the speed. And if I go through a school zone, the sign changes to show "SCHOOL" in a yellow bar at the top of the sign, bit still shows "---".

I like the feature when it's working correctly, just wish it would work correctly all of the time.

I've search throughout this forum, even searching through all forum. I've found a few threads with this same problem, but no fix was posted.

It is not the hardware, it is the software. If the navigation program does not know the speed it cannot post it. Some are incorrect anyway, that is with any nav system.
Some poor guy at Map-n-Soft has to know every road and enter it in the software. And keep up with the changes. There used to be a way to report errors.
I understand that point. If the nav doesn't know the speed limit, the sign disappears. I'll have to check if the map also displays the "---". I'll try it when I go out for takeout.

The question is why "---" is displayed? Is it a software error or nav error?

Last night, I went out for takeout, but before turing off the engine, I displayed the map. When restarting the car, the display worked correctly and did not display "---". It's not a fix, but it may be a work around.

Now I have to remember to display the map before turning off the engine,

Hyundai's Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) system uses a windshield-mounted camera to detect speed limit signs on the road. It can also use the vehicle's navigation system for speed limit information. Once detected, the ISLA system displays the speed limit in the instrument cluster and can adjust the cruise control speed to match.

This is how my 2024 Palisade works. When it "sees" a speed limit sign, it displays it.
I live in a gated community with 26 miles of roads and a posted speed limit of 25 mph but not every street has a sign. Been that way for 50 years. One side of the community is fine as the 25 mph is always displayed correctly. On the other side, the display always starts out at 35 mph (which it has never been) until it sees a 25 mph sign and updates the display. Problem is, you make a turn onto another street and it reverts back to 35 mph until it sees another 25 mph sign. So the display toggles back and forth.

I have complained to Map-N-Soft. They required me to send them photos to prove my point. That was last fall, they have yet to do anything. I've also noticed that many of the roads in our county have new speed limits that don't match. I provided detailed info - still nothing has been done.

You would think that it might be possible to collect this data so that updates could be made from actual data instead of what some programmer thinks the speed limit is.

I ALWAYS have the map displayed, but still the speed limit is not displayed in some areas where it always USED to be displayed. If I use Android Auto for Mac purposes on the car's display, the speed signs are usually more accurate and displayed more consistently. Also, using the built-in nav maps, I have noticed that when I pass a speed sign the map will immediately display the correct speed, but if I do not pass another speed sign in about 20 seconds the speed limit disappears from the map until I pass another speed sign. In addition, sometimes the speed on the map changes when I enter and leave a school zone, and sometimes it doesn't... I have no "proof", but I'm certain I remember the speed limits being displayed better and more consistently in previous vehicles with nav - 2020 Santa Fe, 2015 Sonata, etc.
