2015 Sonata 2.4 GL
It has been quite cold up north. My car does not start anymore if I don’t plug in the block heater cord.
Car has a AGM battery at the moment, wondering if anyone here replaced their sonata battery with lead acid battery instead of AGM battery?
Lead acid is half the price of AGM. ( size 94R)

I replaced the OEM AGM battery with an Interstate lead acid battery and have not had any issues. The AGM batteries are being used in vehicles with start/stop technology, which my SE does not have.
Oh nice! Which year is your sonata?
Would that mess up to command remote starter in anyway?

My 2018 Sonata SE with key start has an AGM battery, my dealer told me if it goes bad I have to replace it with an AGM or it voids the warranty!

AGM vs flooded lead acid batteries require different charging and floating voltages for optimum lifespan.
That being said, flooded are more forgiving than AGM.
So substituting AGM in place of flooded is more likely to cause disappointment than vice versa.

Local battery store?....... like the ones I see that advertise AA/AAA battery sales in the front window?
I've never set foot in one of those places. If that's where you purchased it,

Perhaps I will take a peek inside it, being my Hyundai is a 2019 and will be due a new battery in November 2022 (four years old then). That's been my battery-replacement time-line/ritual for a few decades now.

Local battery store means this place which sell automotive filters and automotive batteries not AA /AAA.
4 years seems little short time for swapping batteries.
Also my last battery was original factory, lasted 7.5 years in Canadian prairie brutal cold.
Hope the new one has some decent life on it.
