Recurring oil leaking on alternator

I have a 2007 Santa Fe and just had the third new alternator installed on it since I bought it in 2015. First was as part of Service Campaign C0260 in late-2015. My alternator failed and had to be replaced out of pocket (along with the battery) in summer 2020, about a year before I received the first Recall R0202 notice indicating that the C0260 fix didn’t work. I took my car in as soon as they sent the second R0202 notice in 2022 that they had determined the “fix” is an oil protector and possibly new alternator. They noted oil was on the alternator but it tested above the minimum so didn’t replace it then. Because the shop that replaced it in didn’t note that there was oil on the alternator, Hyundai wouldn’t reimburse me for that out of pocket alternator replacement. 14 months later, my 2020 alternator has failed.

Hyundai has refused to provide any service for this failure (apparently 14 months since the R0202 service is “far outside the warranty period”), so I’ve made sure to have the shop that I had do the repair note that there is oil on the failed alternator. They and Hyundai also noted that the main oil leak is from the timing cover gasket, and that they previously used silicone to try to stop the leaks (it failed miserably). I’ve found some older posts in these forums that suggests that this could be related to the issues with the valve cover gasket and their previous repairs. The quote is over $2000 to repair this.

I’ve got a few questions:
1. Is the timing cover leak due to the same causes as the valve cover gasket leaks (and therefore should Hyundai be covering this repair)?
2. I saw some older reports in the forums of people successfully fighting with Hyundai to get them to cover these repairs. Does anyone have any recent experience with them covering alternator and/or timing cover repairs and are you willing to share how you did this?
3. What is the oil protector that they installed in R0202? What does it look like? Where is it installed? How is it supposed to work? Should it also protect the alternator from oil leaks from the timing cover?
4. There were also some suggestions in the forums to report this to transport Canada. I looked at the reporting page, but am not sure quite sure what to report. Can anyone provide more detail on this?
Thanks for any info!

USA instructions read that if oil is on alternator, replace cover gasket and alternator.

Been random Bozo Show when folks show up later after having 1/2 ass recall done and dump it in our lap.

Simple to say macanick didnt follow instructions in the first place

Protector here is something the come up with for use for more recent 197 on Veracruz,, why Hyundai wont leave these cars car alone and they show up with over 150,000 miles for a 3rd time around, 15-17yr old,, leave it alone. This BANDAID is another cam cover gasket, another alternator, clean outside of block-timing chain cover and cam cover, essentially finger paint RTV all over outside, goop the protector, stick it in place, then smear RTV all over it, why not just a can of FLEX SEAL on it ?

Hyundai wont pay to reseal chain cover, who know what kind of quality work you going to get there by individual macanicks, I have people in my shop grinding away old RTV off CNC machined flat surfaces leaving it look like all wave, no way RTV going to seal that wave, then drive bolts on cover with DEWALT, no torque wrench there
