Pulley problem

My 06 3.3 is having a problem with the pulleys. A few days ago something squealed, like a loose belt squeal. I put it off, then when I started it up this morning, I heard a clanging noise coming from the engine, and the battery light turned on. I checked everything out and saw that there is a pulley broken off which is rattling around the crankshaft pulley. I figured it was a pulley that had broken off, but all 7 pulleys in the car are present and accounted for. Incidentally, the serpentine belt is way loose, which would be why the car lost power and eventually died.

Am I completely lost or did an 8th pulley magically appear in my engine.

Hi,
My 2006 did the same thing. The crankshaft pulley has a rubber layer between the inside of the pulley and the outer ring. The outer part of the pulley has separated and caused the serpentine belt to go slack and everything the belt drives to stop working. The crankshaft pulley is not too hard to replace if you are somewhat handy. Removing the nut that holds the pulley on is difficult and a large impact wrench is needed, not too bad after that. There are many posts on this site about this, so search and you will find step by step instructions.
Good luck.

mayb good time to upgrade to a lighter weight OBX pulley from the Gensis 3.8 V6 Everyone on here says they fit and look better and will add 1+ HP to the wheels. And they "may" be cheapeir to replace (OBX pulley $100, OEM pulley ??). And with no rubber they wont break down the same way the OEM ones do, but i have read one or two stories about the OBX pulley breakin, so i guess nothings perfect :p

My tension pulley bolt has broken twice, the first time the belt broke and the alternator had froze up because it had a piece of metal or rock (some kind of debris, I had the alternator taken apart and cleared of debris and replaced the broke bolt and pulley by a a certified mechanic, drove it approximately a month and the tension pulley bolt broke again? What can I do and is this common problem or recall on this 2007 Hyundai entourage?
