PSF3 is what the manual calls for on power steering fluid for this Accent, though I can't find it! The dealer service department tells me they have never had PSF-3 or heard of it even after showing them my manual. They only stock PSF-4 and recommended it instead. From what I've seen PSF-4 and 3 are not compatible, 3 is clear while 4 is green. Some people say it's transmission fluid rebranded as power steering but SP-III is red. I know my mechanic got it when I had the engine swapped in December but I haven't been able to ask him yet where he got it, any idea where to get it?

I have seen a lot of threads with suggestions on replacement fluids for PSF-3 but I really want to get the original fluid if possible because I plan on running this car another 100,000-200,000 miles with minimal maintenance.
It's just standard power steering fluid. You buy it at Walmart or any other place. It could be clear or red. The owners manual also says it's Dexron II ATF. Find another dealer, they obviously don't know what they're doing.
Hyundai says PSF-3 is no longer made and any clear power steering fluid will work. Your manual actually says Dexron will work as a power steering fluid?

I bought a bottle of Walmart Super Tech Power Steering Fluid last year. It has no designations or API specifications on the bottle. It's clear. I've been sucking out the reservior every few months and pouring in new fluid. I've had no ill effects for 20k miles. If it was wrong, I'd expect it to be noisy or leaking. It works fine.
It's up to you what you want to do, but if it was my car, I'd just buy the Walmart stuff and not worry about it.

Power steering fluid and ATF are both hydrauilc fluids. Back in the day...we used ATF for both. The difference between 3 and 4 is prolly the color. Adding color helps the techs find leaks easier.
PSF 4 is a synthetic product. You can upgrade from PSF 3 to PSF 4, or even add PSF 4 with no problem. But you don't want to convert PSF 3 in a system that starts with PSF 4 as modern systems are not made to use it.
