So i'm tossing up ideas about a motor swap; Wondering if a 2004-2008 Tiburon 2.7L w/ tranny would fit. Has anyone tried? I know I'll probably need a whole new custom front subframe. Help and ideas would be greatly appreciated=)

There are a zillion engine swap threads and not a single person has done one yet on one of these cars... :whistling:
Mostly because they are still pretty new, the oldest model being only 4 years old. I'd rather spend $$$ on putting a turbo on the 1.6l than doing a swap. I've had my share of trouble from a swapped VW.

I think a lot of people dream with a powerfull engine in it, what i really would like is a better engine on my Rio but that is possible with some modifications and possible use of the same parts that i currently have on my car and that will be the beta II. this is been discuss in other forum about what will be needed...

Issues to investigate, in order;

Beta II engine
Bellhousing/clutch compatibility
Distance between bellhousing plane and belts
A/C, P/S hose locations and compatibility
Sensor connector compatibility
Beta II ECU
SFR Alpha to Beta harness adapter (designed for speed-density non-us Beta II?)
Custom exhaust fitting
Short ram intake
like i said we can dream about what engine we will love to be there, but i hope that is not that case with this thread because that is been cover in couple thousand threads before.

J-series swaps becoming popular these days. Why stop at K24 when you can have a J35? They've swapped them into EGs. Realistically there is so much custom work going into those swaps that an Accent swap wouldn't take much more. Not much more than way too much is still way too much though.
isnt J series are v6 wouldn't a 4 cyc be better cause more room for a turbo and lighter

After doing some research on different motors, i have decided to pursue the Unique factor and swap in the Delta 2.7, so over the next few weeks i will be heavily doing some research, expect to see me on hear A LOT, and hopefully very soon i can start the swap.

Wish me luck=)
Ok ...good luck!!! seen it done on a 2G Accent so it should fit...I'd imagine you will need the ecu too.Should be interesting....

Well the 2.0 Beta engine from the Tiburon wouldn't be all that expensive. I found one with 30,000kms on it for $695, and im sure if i searched around, I could find some even cheaper. And because of the Tiburon, there's a bit of aftermarket support for the engine (much more than our 1.6). Custom mounts and some wiring to fix... but from what i've read so far, it should bolt up to our transmission (at least they do on the 2nd gen Accents). So there really wouldn't be all that much cash outlay to swap it over if someone has the time and a place to work on it.
