How much drop through the radiator? Fan working?

 

Can kicks in top how’s gets red hot and pressurised

 

Isn't 80C the normal tstat opening temp? And 90C the fully open spec?

 

constantly sits at 80c never hitting 90c

Gets extremely hot to the point the top hose wants to explode..

How are you measuring 80C, 90C?? Gauges and sensors go bad. If you're simply using what the instrument cluster gauge is telling you, then you don't know it's really overheating. Could be a bad gauge or sensor.....

 

The IC gauges are just glorified idiot lights. If you can access the OBDII data for the ECT you will know exactly what temp you are running at. The temperature gauge n my Gen Coupe is worthless, only shows when cold OK or too hot. I'd rather have the blue and red LED like my Accent.

 

I'm sure 80-90 is the normal coolant running temps.

My top hose near the radiator also gets pressurised, if it's overheating the coolant would be spewing into the reservoir wouldn't it? The radiator cap relieves pressure at 1.1 bar.

 

sean is your cooling fan working does it come on? also when it runs hot does temperature drop a little when driving at a steady speed?

 

On my Hyundais the fan comes on at 96C for engine temp.
