Downloaded, copying to my USB drive now...

 

Took about 60 to 90 minutes to install on the car. Started the install, then turned the car off and put it in accessory mode.

 

So the big question. I have every update up to and including May 2023. Other than some location updates, is there anything of note that makes this most recent update useful?

 

I mean, I guess it depends on the user. Speaking personally, there wasn't anything included in this update that makes me want to rush to install it. Now, if it included wireless AA, I'd do it as soon as I got home today.

 

I'll download this tomorrow. Regarding previous May software update, I'm just realizing that the " battery discharge warning" hasn't appeared since that update...which is nice. That seemed to appear within just a few minutes of listening to music on accessory mode. I assume others have the same experience?

 

This thing annoyed me the most, sinse I never saw such a thing in any other normal car. I have winter tire install in 2 weeks, so will ask the dealer to install this.

edit: btw, you can turn off the car completely when updating, the update will continue & you will receive a bluelink email once it is complete

 

I have wireless AA in my 20 SEL. It came on my replacement OEM infotainment unit.

 

Wireless AA/CarPlay is only available on non-navigation infotainment systems. He was referring to the nav unit.

 

Does anyone see the windows auto-up during a tunnel option? 2020 doesn't have it. The only thing I notice is the number pad search for FM/AM radio channels and new sounds of music.

Why do I keep having issues installing these updates?

Both my 22 santa fe phev, and my father's 23 tucson hybrid. Either say the update files are corrupt or not the right version. I have tried born cars with 3 different usb devices. All three have failed me.


Why can't this be a simple process? What's wrong with hyundai and/or me?

On my '21 Sonata SEL Plus, I had to use a very specific USB thumb drive to do it, a Sandisk USB 2.0 64gb thumb drive formatted to exFAT. Before getting that sorted out, I used so many different types of USB drives. Using the one I listed was the only one that worked. Also, if you encounter any errors when downloading the update, you need to delete everything and start all over. One thing that helped me was to download the update to my local hard drive, and then copy everything over to the USB.

This update did not fix either of my reported issues. But as I was told by the support people at Autoever, they did not expect to have either issue corrected until the fall 2024 update. I was only hoping that the one-way street warning was fixed.

 

I believe wireless AA requires a special WiFi chip, so a software upgrade won't fix it. You could look into something like the Motorola MA1, which is a USB adapter for wireless AA.

 

Will this update work for vehicles in Canada? I have a 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Ultimate.

 

If you use the Hyundai Navigation Updater program, it does show the October 2023 update available for Canada.

 

I've been using AAWireless for about 6 months now, and it's been great. For mixed OS households, there was a recent firmware update to also support wireless CarPlay through the dongle.

I always suggest to use diskpart whenever using a flashdrive for any non Windows / Apple workstation use. Manufacturers can put in overhead protection, and other nuances that other OS systems may not play nice with. Just get a 64 GB drive, label it for car upgrade only, and run diskpart on it. That error has nothing to do with the flash drive.
The message indicates that you are trying to install firmware designed for a different make of car.
First step is to reformat your 64gb or 128gb flash drive using the windows format process, performing a full format in the exFAT format.
Next, go to the Navigation Updater web site at update.hyundai.com/US/EN/navigationUpdate, you need to downlad and install the Navigation Updater program on your Windows or Mac computer (make sure you selected the proper updater file).
After downloading and installing the updater software, you need to select the PROPER vehicle by type and year -- from what I have read in this thread, I believe that you should select "Sonata" as the vehicle and "2020-21 Sonata" as the model then click the OK button and follow the rest on the instructions, as displayed.
When the process is complete, the program should indicate that the firmware update files were successfully written to the flash drive.

You should be able to then use that flash drive to install the firmware update on your Sonata per the upgrade instructions.

 

I have done that and STILL get the incompatible error message.

 

The fact that you are getting an "incompatible" error means only one thint -- one or more of the files on your flash drive are not for your car.
Try again by first performing a FULL format (not a "quick" format) of the flash drive in Windows then repeat the steps I listed above.

I have gotten the same issue four times now downloading the 2020-2021 Sonata update. It is coming with extra files that don't belong. HMC isn't a code for a Hyundai vehicle that I can find. Seems to be a place holder. HMC. Hyundai Motor Company The actual files on the USB drive also include the DN8 file so I know for sure I'm downloading the right update because part of the files are correct for my vehicle. Just these seemingly mislabeled or extra files are messing things up

 

Adding this photo of the downloaded files. as you can see it is for the 2020_21_Sonata_USA but there are packages for HMC causing this issue.

This folder didn't exist before I downloaded it so it can't be "left overs" The program is downloading these extra files with the update.

 

I opened these extra packages and the files inside are dated 6/16/2023 and 9/19/2023. The contents appear to be similar to what's in the *.DN8 packages. 1 difference I noticed is the system HMC package includes files for CA (Canada). I'm wondering if I remove these if it will install.

Can someone who did the update successfully give us a base count of files from their usb stick? or a screen shot?

I DID uninstall and reinstall the nav updater, and made sure to pick US. The same version was downloaded and installed. 2.2.2.0

I've also tried redownloading the update 3 times, making sure to fully delete any cached files in-between. I'll try downloading from my work laptop tomorrow, although I doubt my PC is causing the issue.

Downloaded to brand new never used flash drives. Done full format not just quick. Downloaded straight to flash drive as well as download the hard drive and copy over. No matter what I do I end up with the same exact files and sizes. And the car just refuses to accept it

I do have a question for anyone able. Before this October 2023 update when was the last time you updated her car? I updated mine for the spring update as well wondering if that might impact whether it accepts the new update. Because I'm out of ideas. I'm currently on software version DN8.USA.S5W_M.V009.010.230310

I wonder if AutoEver posted the update files for the wrong model. Have you contacted Hyundai Bluelink about the problem you are having with the firmware update?

The system prevents you from installing a firmware update that is not specifically made for that vehicle. This is done to prevent the possibility of bricking the the system that you are trying to update.

 

So has Hyundai started to perform these navigation updates over the air (OTA) via Bluelink?

I ask because I am seeing this notice on my 2023 Sonata Hybrid SEL screen that the Oct 2023 map update is in process, BUT I never inserted USB with downloaded update to car....?

Seems OTA is happening. My 2023 N-Line today. I thought it was a glitch at first but read the update notes and realized it is new.

 

My '23 N-Line received the SW update earlier in the week but no navigation update yet This was the 2nd OTA update I've received so far.
