Hey guys, I have an 03 tibby wit the four cyl. i cant seem to beat my bro's 01 z24 cavi. I have an APEXi N1 exhaust, and short ram intake. wtf else do i have to do to get some more low end torque, i kick the ever lovin **** outta him on the highway but the low end flat out sucks, i cant win a drag race against him to save my life, but from rolling starts the high end tibby just beats the crap outta his Z24. I am trying to stay n/a for right now. Oh btw both cars are four speed auto's.

i agree with chad. The first thing that is wrong is that its an automatic. Automatics have a bad hesitation when you lay into it. I got an 06 tiburon that is a 2.0 4 cylinder and ,mine has pretty decent low end and top end torque. Have you tried puttin a chip in it? It will add a little bit. Also what kind of exhaust? In the exhaust i mean like what size? You could always turbo it. lol Thats what im doin to mine.

try adding a header manifold. and probably a cold-air intake that gets air from under the bumper (it will be colder) opposed to the short ram. and poly urethane motor mounts will improve off the line starts. theres also a thread on this site about losing weight. wheels, seats, spare tire, maybe even bumpers. for every 100lbs it's a tenth in the quarter. and definitely a performance chip. and put all the old parts in brothers trunk- that should slow him down! hahahahhhahaha

well my bro says hes gonna convert my tibby into a five speed, maybe i can get a NGM supercharger kit installed too lol. I just love how he tries to beat me in a top end race, lol. can't even touch me. He also wants to somehow totally change my car, he got it in his head that he wants to dump chevy's LS1 motor and tranny into my car, not only the five speed conversion, but he wants to do this too, a rwd conversion using the chevy power train. I'm like well if you wanna dump 30grand into my 20grand car go ahead, but seeing a RWD v8 tibby would be sick.

East remember just start off from headers, then exhaust, and then Intake but I would choose intake first as its the most cheapest to start modding. That should put you in the 160 BHP range

160HP?!? Is stock 138hp that yr?
Reason I ask is that I've never seen a dyno with a "cold air" intake swap that yielded more than 8hp. More common would be 2-4hp, if not a LOSS of a few hp.

I've never seen a Hyundai Dyno'd though...

Oh, and are you thinking of a specific intake?[brand, length, placement?]
