That pretty much tells the story but i have a few questions:
Why? What could have caused this?
And should I go to the dealership to get it fixed or is this just something simple like a plug that disconnected?
Is my warranty ok after lowering the car?

Thanks in advance for the help :)

What could have caused this? LOL You have to ask? Not being careful when modifying the car. I would bet that some things associated with lowering will NOT be warranty covered b/c of lowering the car.

I guess it is a personal choice, but I see no value in lowering a Sonata, especially a brand new one. They are plenty low enough. In today's economy and high price of gas, I have other things to spend money on.

#1 Pray
#2 Check all your connections, every pin.
#3 If it still doesn't work... did something bad happen? Like something got bashed by something else, or somethings wieght was being supported by an electrical cable... Check there next.
#4 Pray harder
#5 Prepare checkbook for vigorous use.
When all is well again, go on to #6
#6 Celebrate
Good luck

Sounds like it needs to be hooked up the the dealership's computer to run a diagnostic test and see where the problem is. You can check the sensors on the brake calipers and see if a wire was cut or disconnected, but that would be all I would do without taking it to the mechanic.

As far as warranty goes, the factory warranty will apply for everything except for the parts of the suspension system that were modified. If any aftermarket parts cause some type of problem, then the warranty won't apply. I couldn't see lowering my Sonata any more than it is right now, I seem to scrape on all kinds of parking lot entrances and parking stoppers as it sits now, I would end up ripping off my bumpers if I went any lower.

something got unplugged when you installed the springs. Might have to get a pro to reset it. Make sure everything is plugged in correct and try to get it reset.

it looks like you can use the VAG-COM to erase the code..
it does that with some cars when you modify with aftermarket parts.
see if you can get a hold of vagcom and erase the codes.

that's how it was for my VW when I used to own one.
haven't had such issues with my sonata yet.

good luck and hope it works out!

Or a wire got pinched/severed during reinstall if he didn't unhook anything.

Agree to find out at all four corners where the wheel hub sensor is and track it back into the sheet metal to make sure its all connected and no cut wires.

My guess is once the offending sensor is found and reconnected the idiot light will most likely extinguish.

VAGCOM = Volkswagen Audi Group COM :whistling:
Glad to see another VW owner... used to be obsessed with reading VWVortex...ugh. That's a meaner crowd over there.

I second what everyone else said. Make sure you check the wheel hub sensor and then try a battery disconnect. If that doesn't work go to an autozone/pep boys/advance and see what code is tripping.

If you can't address it simply, take it to the dealer.

And just to make it clear, by modifying your car you void the warranty to whatever has been modified AND whatever they can reasonably argue was effected. If you modify a car and give it 50% more horsepower, for instance, it can be argued that you're adding stress to the brakes, the transmission, etc.

Just to be clear, I wouldn't touch the powertrain on this vehicle wiht a ten foot pole. Hyundai has the best factory warranty in the business and I think it's short-sighted to modify it. Plus, I can't imagine a need for >275 hp in a FWD sedan like this.

FYI, on most other cars if a vehicle speed signal fault is triggered in will clear itself once the issue has been repaired and it sees a correct signal. It will remain in memory but the traction / ABS light (s) will go out. I would recommend you pass by a PEP boys, Strauss or local shop and see what code has been triggered. This will help in diagnosing the problem. To me it sound like a wheel speed sensor issue, the harness/plug is either crimped or not seated correctly.

What does this have to do with the OP's original post?

Typically when you remove a strut, the wire harness is clipped in some form or fashion to the strut mount. My guess is he pulled a connector for ease of access and didnt get it right upon re-installation. Worse, is he might have clipped the wire harness pinching it upon re-installation.

I would be willing to bet a case of HopSlam that a simple pull the tire and check your work will reveal the issue. The OP should inspect his work to make sure before taking it to the dealership.

Not much -- point was tangential pertaining to modifications and warranty coverage.

Are you the OP relevance police?

Thanks for all the responses haha. So last night I did a double check of everything with no luck, everything was correct. Then unhooked the battery to see if a reset would fix it.. nope.
So today the lights were still on when I left work, went to the gas station for a fill up and when I got back into the car and started it NO LIGHTS!? True story.
Have no clue now what the problem was, but for now its all good I guess.

Maybe there's a lesson here - leave the dang car alone. I've always bought a car because I like the way it looked or drove on the lot - not because of what I could do to modify it. In most cases, I think, if you modify something you weaken the original product. Just sayin'. :whistling:
