Hi all, has anyone taken delivery of a new 35? We paid a deposit for one 2 months ago (mind you we were told 2-3 weeks prior to signing) I haven't been able to get a specific date from the dealer however get a regular call from him to say things are still on track. If you knew my wife you would know that patients is not one of her virtues!!
cheers :whistling:

Ive had my ix35 since early May and am loving it!! I must admit its nothing like anything else I have driven before, have managed to lock myself in on 2 occasions and still trying to work out little idiosyncrasy. Fuel economy is unbelievable (have diesal) after having driven a Ford Territory fro last 5 years. Expect to be drivivng to Queensland in not to distant future as wellv as Northern Territory so that should be interesting. Pete

I wanted to buy a ix35 highlander and needed it urgent as my last car was written off in the hailstorms (melb) anyway all the dealers told me at least 8 to 10 weeks wait if i was lucky. fortunatly I happend to be going to geelong, drove past blood hyundai, stopped in for a look, and was told they have one at customs waiting to be cleared.
One week later I was driving it home.
Then my dad decided he wanted a highlander also after seeing mine. By now the suituation at the dealers was worse 3 month wait.
So I phoned a dealer in QLD sunco, they had 3 highlander ix35 in stock.
Bought it from them unregisted took 5 days to get here, then took it to vic roads and got it registered.
thats my ix35 highlander purchaces story.
I suggest other people wanting one in Melb buy from interstate where stock it plenifull.

Had an Accent for 10 years and loved it. Moved on to the ix35 and am a little disappointed.
Firstly the style and build quality and ride are tops. Unfortunately that is all that is good.
The car gear ratios are garbage. At 100 Km/h the motor is reving at 3000RPM which is way to high for long distance driving.
I drive by the cruise control and do no stop start traffic but I have as far got no where near their mileage they quote on the website. The trip computer is out on average by 1 liter per 100kms.
When I set my seat right for my arms my legs are to long and when I get my legs right my arms are to short.
But the most annoying thing is the speedo is out by 5kms per hour. Thankfully it is low but when I went back to Hyundai and asked they said it was adjustable and would be fixed. When I took it for the 1000k service they didnt fix it and said they would have it done at the 15000k service. Had the service and reminded them of the speedo and they said no problems. When I went back to pick up the car they said they have a tolerance of plus or minus 10% and seeing as it was within tolerance they wouldnt fix it.
I go through 11 speed cameras a day going to and from work and I want an accurate speedo and I dont want angry truckies behind me cause I am only sitting on 95 and not 100 as was the first 3 weeks I had the car which lead to me being flashed and abused.

DikkiBee, your dealer is right, Infact just about every Speedo in every car in Australia is calibrated to a variation of about 5%. They can be under but never over.

So if you are showing that you are doing 120 on the Speedo the correct reading should be about 114.
It is Illegal to have a Car showing a speedo reading of 120 and you are actually doing 125.

The last 3 Cars I have purchased have all had this variation. Just set your Cruise Control to the speed limit and you will never have any trouble with speeding fines.

Cully prices can vary dependent if you are in a rush or not, someone I spoke to at the shops said they saved $1000 just shopping around, myself personally I just purchased a highlander diesel $42000 pick it up in a week, have been told there is up to a 7 month wait if you Order one new. I don't know have true this is, but heard there is a strike at the factory which produces the diesels.

Davensue will keep a eye out for that towing fuel ecomomy.

Well I'm happy to report that i towed my caravan (total load 1540kg) km with an average consumption of 12.6 ltr/100km i am impressed to say the least, the car towed without any problems, we were comfortable and relaxed at each stage of the journey.
if anyone has a doubt about the ix35, forget them, it is a really good value for money vehicle, mine is the highlander and well worth the few extra dollars for the package.

Car speedo accuracy

ADR 18 allowed 10% error up until July 06. Now the speedo is not allowed to show a reading less than the actual speed but can be showing 10% more than the actual speed plus 4km/hr.
Of course this can be stuffed up by over inflating the tyres, or fitting larger diameter tyres than specified, causing the speedo to read less than the actual speed. The Revenue Collectors would love this situation.
As someone already put on this Forum, if in doubt, use a GPS as the speedo.

Graytop

Bought my AWD IX 35 diesel auto Trophy edition (soccer world cup model) in May 2014. Now that the world cup is over it is called the SE model.

6,700 kilos later all is well and it is returning 36 miles per gallon around town (yes I am old school). Litres per 100 kilos don't do it for me.

I have not been on any trips longer than Geelong and back. I live in Melbourne and on the highway it is a comfortable drive.

So far so good. Let me know how you go.

You don't say where in Australia you are based.
