For some context I have attached pictures:

I was able to remove the first two plastic trim pieces (just snap on, no screws) but I am unsure of how to continue removing the rest of the unit.

 

OP.... you ever figure this out? I am in the same position and cannot get this console down for the life of me.

 

Never mind OP, I got it. Once in a while, you just gotta pull!

There are two clips where the screws usually are (circles), and 4 clips that hold it to the headliner (arrows)... 2 on the bottom one on each side. The top just rests on the headliner. I use a hook tool in the map light cavities to pull down and release the clips. Then I used a plastic pry tool to release the clips from the headliner.

 

This is perfect. Now to check those wires in the mate-n-loc connectors. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Went to put leds in and my snap bulb connector popped into the back. I had to pry from the rear view side till I got my fingers in and then popped the whole unit as OP suggested. thank goodness I was a little angry for a bit

 

Is there any chance you can make a video of how to do it. I did the same thing and despite reading all of this I can’t figure out how to remove it.

 

Did you ever get yours removed? I’ve just been slowly trying to wedge it out for almost an hour starting from the windshield facing portion

 

The clips holding the headliner don’t seem very sturdy, one of the clips seems as if it’s bending/breaking for me
