Hi and :00000732: to the forum.
Is it possible that there are 3 bolts? There's a topic in the i10 forum about headlight removal..... Might be worth a look, could be similar.

I've finally got round to changing the HL bulbs on my i20 yesterday, after reading how difficult it was.

The driver side was straight forward and took about one minute. The passenger side was (for me, with large hands) impossible without removing the whole unit.
I removed the two bolts -as shown in the manual/handbook. These are the ONLY bolts holding the HL in place but it still did not budge??
What the manual doesn't mention is that the black plastic "arm" to the rear of the unit, (the one you unsrewed the bolt from) is very slightly recessed into the bolt hole, so you need to prise it upwards to free it. Once I had done this the unit eventualy came free towards the front of the car, but it was NOT easy, just take your time. You don't need to disconnect the unit completely, just pull it forward enough to get your hand in there.

Hope this helps.

HI Guys,

I have managed to remove the headlight but i am having difficulty re-fitting the headlight again on my 2011 i20.
I can't seem to get it perfectly aligned - i contacted my local dealer, he suggested i remove the front bumper to get the headlight fitted 100% again.

Has anyone else had the same issue?

Thanks!

I replaced the headlamp bulbs in my i20 style with Philips X-treme power H4 bulbs. It was very tricky and fiddley. I removed both light assemblies to fit the bulbs. Getting the lights back in took longer than removing them! They seem to fit back in but it's a struggle to get them to align and fit correctly. It took about 2 hours. Thank goodness it was worth the effort as the Philips bulbs (which are road legal) are excellent.

As i see,it is not big problem remove headlights.Problem is fiting them back.2 hours for fiting them back? Can you explain what was the problem. In post above yours, dealer say something of remove front bumper.Cant believe they sugest that???

The problem with re-fitting the headlight assemblies is that there seems to be no exact way that they go back in. It's possible to fit them in, but they do not line up with the bodywork! It was just trail and error....with plenty of error! I don't really know how I got them in in the end, but I did. There is probably a very simple solution, but I don't know what that is! Good luck with you bulb replacement.

Just change my stock bulbs.I put osram Cool blue.Much better light now i have on the road.
You dont need to remove your headlight.I change my bulbs for 10 minutes.7 minutes for driver side and 3 for other. There is a lot of space for fingers near the fuse box on the driver side and it is little tricky. If you have fat fingers, ask your wife or girl to help you with driver(left)headlight :)).

The passenger side bulb is easy to replace, without removing the headlight, plenty of space to work in. Driver's side is another matter. With standard size hands its a long job, with plenty of swearing and little cuts. A small handed female would find it easier if she knew what she was doing, otherwise undo the two bolts on top, they are the only bolts holding it in, slide the until forward just enough to change the bulb, then slide it back. If you pull it too far forward it comes out of a locating prong under the unit and its a devil of a job to get the unit back in, with patience it can be done with a lot of wriggling about of the unit. There is probably an easy way to do it but as some have said I cant find it either!

Just change parking lights and put led bulb. There is no way to change driver side parking bulb without remove headlight. And when i remove 2 bolts and push headlight i cant bring him back in good position. In that moment i remmeber of this forum and how "sierra" try and try to bring headlight on his position. What ever i do-didnt work. After 4-5 minutes i discover that all you need to do is just-push it little harder back and it say CLICK.Headlight is on his position.I try couple times and it works.Just push it little stronger .You have to feel it
