UPDATE: 12/14/21:
Finally got the car back, Hybrid battery warranty approved and replaced for FREE, but with the battery they also forced me to replace the BMS (FREE for the part, but had me pay for the installation of it $595). I hope this is the end of this saga.

What's a BMS? So here's the deal with flat rate on warranty. Manufacturers pay less for flat rate hours than a retail customer would pay. Hyundai is notorious for cutting allowed hours for shop time. It may be that the dealer (and mechanic) wanted more money for the job, so with inventive billing ($595) they pad the bill at your expense.

The part was charged to Hyundai, but the labor was charged to you. If this is a required replacement for the battery replacement, you should pay nothing for the labor - because I'll guarantee, the dealership billed Hyundai for the labor - oh, AND YOU.

BMS = Battery Management System. I totally agree, if Hyundai made them replace the Hybrid Battery and also said they had to replace the BMS, then why should I have to pay anything, especially the labor to put this part in.

Seems that the only way they an deny you battery coverage is if you are not the original owner otherwise it is black and white "unlimited mileage" on the battery

Hybrid Battery WarrantyLifetimeThis lifetime warranty applies to all Hyundai hybrid and electric batteries. Though there is a lifetime term, subsequent owners only get coverage for 10 years/100,000 miles.
Where can I find this warranty information? HMA is denying my claim also based on the mileage. But, I am the original owner!

can you send me any documents that might help me get replacement battery.we are the original owners and started having trouble at 92,500 miles. They keep blaming other issues until we have 111,000 miles and then confirms its the main 7,000.00 battery and it needs replaced. They are taking the position its over 100,000 miles, WHEN WE PURCHASED THE 2015 Limited Hybrid sonata, WE WERE TOLD A FREE REPLACEMENT AS LONG AS WE OWN THE CAR AS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS FOR LIFE,NOT 100,000 Garry lakedr7 at yahoo.com

Does not matter what you were told. What matters is what is in writing. Now, if you can prove the problem existed before the 100k mark and the dealer did not properly diagnose, you may have a valid complaint. Do you have the service records?

What is Hyundai's hybrid battery warranty?

That's why we cover our batteries and system components for our hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric vehicles with a 10- year/100,000-mile warranty. While all electric-car batteries will experience degradation over time, ours will not degrade more than 70 percent of the original capacity during the warranty period.

Havent dealt with LF modal battery replace, seems here on the site few people won buy back due to battery pack not available and time out of service waiting, do a search

Friend at another dealer told me he seen a YF Hybrid get battery and bms with nearly 1/4 millon mile original owner

This has been one issue after another with our 2015 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, and after replacing the transmission, Power Relay Assembly, 12v battery and the BMS, the dealership is now saying the Hybrid battery needs to be replaced. Im thinking, awesome, free upgrade, NOPE. Hyundai dealership called me back saying that the warranty has been denied because of my mileage @ 144k miles. The service associate says there is nothing he can do and that I have to call Hyundai customer service and plead my case to the….WTF????? This car has an unlimited mileage warranty on the Hybrid Battery, so why am I having to call Hyundai customer service? Shouldn't the Service associate, or his boss be my advocate? This is so ridiculous, I cant even tell you. We will never buy a Hyundai again.
Did you ever resolve with Hyundai? I am facing the same thing.

My 2017 Sonata Hybrid needs its battery replaced. it's at 127k miles and I am the original owner. The dealership repeatedly states they can't do anything about it as their system shows the part not being covered by warranty. Hyundai customer care couldn't resolve the issue either. I just took Hyundai to arbitration via BBB Auto Line and now they are being ordered to replace the battery under the promised lifetime warranty.

Dealer needs to contact techline with relative diag info, and submit waht Techline ask for, then they will forward onto Hybrid Engineering, who will decide if they will warranty HEV battery, split the cost, or outright sell for customer pay.

Not up to dealer to decide, it Hyundai Motor who decide

BTW - plenty of LF HEV posts about Hyundai not being able to supply LF-HEV battery in timely fashion, cars sitting at dealer for gross time waiting, some reported Hyundai buy back car

Do search

After reading all your posts about the 2015 Sonata I took action after the dealer and Hyundai denied me the original owner of the car, the warranty on the hybrid battery. I reached out to several mechanics who have all data. Each of them searched their websites to find where Hyundai has printed that the hybrid battery will be covered for the original owners of the 2015 Honda Sonata.. I also sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission and the BBB and I copied the dealership and I copied Hyundai. the article states that the original owner we’ll get a lifetime warranty on the hybrid battery. I’m getting my new battery it’s on backorder. However, I already got a loaner vehicle from the dealer. I don’t know if this will help anybody, but I do have all the paperwork from the data sheets. as far as the mechanics are concerned, they don't believe that it's available to the public.
