If your lights are on, you're using energy. The impact on MPG is probably minimal, but it isn't zero. Anyway, I don't like those lights on other cars in my rear view mirror - kinda ticks me off a bit - like they're in a hurry and you're going too slow.

I guess brake lights must really bug you too.
