How do you undo the electrical connectors on the coolant sensor and Crankshaft sensor lead? These have a metal clip around three sides. Do I just pull hard or prise apart or do you have to remove that metal clip first? I don't want to break anything !

Do not force connector apart. The metal clip should push to one side thereby releasing connector lock and you should then be able to separate the connector. Don't forget to push wire back after reconnecting.

Best of luck

They can be a right cow of a thing to get at on some connectors in tricky locations/angles. Who's the "genius" who thought of that idea!! :wallbash:
You can fit the wire back to the connector first, then push it back onto the sensor, the wire arms will ride up the ramped face of the retaining tangs then snap over the rear side of them.
But even doing that is a sod! The last one I did I had to reduce the tension by straining the wire arms apart a bit as there was no way I could get it back onto the connector and had to put it on first because of the angle of the sensor.

Ok thanks for the replies. I thought I was being a bit of a noob getting stuck on something simple like this. I guess I can remove the metal clip completely then to disconnect? I was going to clean up some connections as I'm having occassional starting trouble but now someone reversed into me so I've got bigger problems !

If you can lift each arm a bit with a tiny screwdriver while gently pulling back on the plug, so as to avoid pulling the clip off altogether, is far more preferable.
Getting the clip back onto the plug first can be a nightmare because of the slots in the plug. Getting the clip back onto the plug after it is pushed onto the sensor can be a nightmare if the sensor is in a bad position.
Perhaps another way might be to lever behind one corner of the clip, so as to make it rotate around a bit forcing the arms to open against the corners of the plug, then pull the plug back a bit, then push the clip back into place before pulling the plug off the sensor.
