Remember it is simply applying the brakes as you would after you have stopped. I believe there is a better chance your foot slips off the brake pedal than for that to malfunction and let go. Nothing is impossible but you are at a stop - so if it lets go your car would creep (or I suppose creep backwards on a hill) not lunge just as if you took your foot off the brake.

No, I merely used it as an example of stopping via auto-hold vs putting car into park.

But I do agree with your logic on foot slipping vs the system malfunctioning.

 

I've had it on cars for the last 5 years - never had an issue. Having said that, I tend to use the electronic brake as I find the autohold comes off a tad earlier and if I'm facing uphill, it rolls back a couple of inches before the engine grabs. The brake doesn't do that.

 

No issues for me, but when I rarely do use it I use my foot on the brake stopped on a up hill.

It helps when leaving a stopped hill position when I release the brake to accelerate, the car doesn't roll backwards.

 

I use it all the time. Never had an issue. Seems like it's merely mimicking what I would do at a stop: hold the brake pedal. I still keep my foot nearby, though.

 

I only use the auto-hold feature at train tracks when freight trains are crossing.

 

I use it also all the time. Works great. Only had an issue last week in the carwash. The car was on autohold so the belt could not tow the car forward.

 

I tend to use it during my wait at a fast food drive-thru.

 

Very true and an interesting contradiction. "Wait" and "Fast" food...

 

I use it all the time and have never had an issue. For me it is a useful feature.

 

I have 162K miles on my 2016 Sonata and use it all the time. Also 80K miles on my 2019 Santa Fe and also use it all the time. Never had a problem and love it.

The only real issue I can foresee is accidentally stepping on the gas pedal while stopped. That right foot that is wandering around the floor could make a mistake. Not everyone behind the wheel has their brain fully engaged.

 

I’ve had it in my last few cars. I feel it works great and is very trustworthy.

 

I dont recommend using this if you have restless leg syndrome or if you are a drummer just sayin

 

Just started activating the Auto-Hold feature on my 2021 N Line and I find it very useful for daily around town driving. I consulted my Owner's Manual prior to use and find it functions as advertised.
My manual transmission BMW has a hill hold feature that is very useful here in hilly Seattle.
