Dear Friends,

This week has been a very exceptional one. So many things have happened; I feel that finally the pieces are falling in to place. The last few months were very challenging in every aspect, but the hard work starts to pay off.

During the development of the product, I tried to stick to my deepest value of being as completely transparent and honest as possible. I took on a personal challenge; to bring to market a product of an exceptional value of performance versus price. Like you, I’m tired of paying exaggerated prices to buy what I really need and want. I’m a newborn in the business; however I think I can bring some fresh air where you and I can be in a win-win situation.

In my mind, and from the beginning, I decided to approach the market in a different way. From the beginning I decided that my main goal would be to beat the portable navigation systems at their own game and integrate a class leading comprehensive GPS solution into an integrated media device. I encourage the customers to consider and compare both options (my integrated solution and the off the shelf standalone GPS devices) and buy accordingly to their needs.

The most difficult task was to build the business according to the above ideal by respecting the profit margins of my suppliers. Compass-NAV, as a company, was founded to minimize the overhead and therefore minimize the impact on final price. I’m in a position today where I can certainly say: “Mission completed”. I was able to create a horizontal business structure to eliminate the waste of money. The whole structure sits on the network of people found on this forum. From the manuals creator, the website designer or the “guinea pig”, everything is working cohesively using today’s technology. The most important thing to mention is all of the participants of this thread that have been following me since the beginning, THANK YOU!! If this thread is growing more than ever, it’s all because of you…. Nothing less.

Today, I can certainly declare that we have in our hands a true master piece of mobile entertainment. The CN-M5 raised the bar in this category in Korea and I’m pleased to integrate their technology to our flavor. We won’t stop it here; we have the room to grow bringing even more exciting features.

Now I’m pleased to present the final offering of the CN-M5 integrated navi-tainment system for your Sonata, look for the “EXCLUSIVES” to Compass NAV’s product. No other vendor offers these features!!

Technology:
The reason why it integrates so well with existing factory features is because the foundation IS from the factory. Let me explain. Most of the offerings today replace the entire radio and dash components to make it “look” factory. The reality is those manufacturers are using a generic box and they adapt it the best they can to your car. The problem is they can’t integrate perfectly because it would cost them too much money to adapt it 100%, thus loosing XM, steering wheel controls etc…. Our approach is different; we use your current factory radio. Yes! The metal box with the tuners and amplifiers of your existing car, we just remove the face of it thus removing only the keypad and the LCD screen only. That leaves the factory flat ribbon cable and the Bluetooth antenna out of the metal box. That ribbon cable is interfaced with a controller module that converts the messages sent and received by the old face and sent now to our Tablet PC. In reality you keep the master component that retains your factory features but they are now going thru a touchscreen interface.

Installed this past weekend, along with the back up camera, parking assist and traffic monitoring. Instructions are clear and accurate (**** be careful when cutting out the factory radio mount area******). The system works flawlessly and has a lot of nice features. Wife loves it. The back up camera with parking assist are really nice and I highly recommend. The communications and support from Charles were the BEST I have ever dealt with and received from any company from cell phones to tv's. I wish all companies had such great support. If you are interested in adding nav, back camera, and touch screen, this is the product to get. Thanks Charles, I really appreciate people and companies that are as top notch as you.

I got my CN-M5 kit this week :)

Looking at the installation manual, it does look a bit scary :). I have never done any car electronics installation myself.

Has any one near Sacramento done the installation themselves. Just in case if I need some advise or help :)

Thanks!

If you need something you can always call in, the line should be open :D

I'll connect you with redwarfusa, he's located in Roseville, not too far hey! ;)

Twist a cap for me at the end of your install

Good evening.
I have a 2013 Sontata Limited w/ Nav, but the stock head unit has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It is seriously the worst thing I think I've ever used. I'm looking into replacing it with this system, but I would need to confirm a couple things.
First, I already have a parking assist system and backup camera. Will the stock stuff work with this system, or would I have to buy replacements?
Second, what happens to the onboard USB and AUX jacks with this system? Do they just become useless, or can I patch into them?
Third, do you have any sort of ETA on a firmware update and/or the temperature sensor? I've been reading a lot of the threads regarding the MP3 player being a bit buggy, and that's one of the biggest reasons I want to ditch the stock system. The temperature sensor would be nice too, especially if I could get that installed with the rest of the system rather than installing it later.
Thanks,
Static

well seems you missed a lot of parts!! first and last you cant get that unit because you already have the oem nav wich is connected everywhere in the car can bus and more but Charles could tell you exactly... but as for the rest the usb and aux jack are still fully fonctional and the firmware update has been out for some time now so the temp sensor is now fully fonctionnal!!

So get another Sonata w/o nav so you can get this wonderful unit :D:D

Installation in Texas

Going to buy Compass Nav system but I don't dare install it. Looking for Texas friends to share reputable locations where they had their Compass Nav installed and what the approximate cost was. No one in South Texas apparently has installed any. I am willing to drive to get to someone who has experience with this system.

microphone

Hi,
I recently installed compass-nav on my 2013 sonata GLS.
It went pretty well overall, and I just got one problem.
The voice command does not work. Everything else works fine.
When I press the voice command button on the wheel, it says "Please say command after beep" and a beep sounds.
Whatever I say after the beep, it does not recognize it.
Hands free call with my phone connected via bluetooth does not work of course. I can hear but the other person couldn't hear anything.

I haven't tested the voice command before installing compass-nav,
so not sure whether the mic is the problem or I did something wrong during installation.
I am afraid the dealer might not fix it under warranty since I replaces the factory radio face with compass-nav.

My question is:

1. Is there a particular cable I need to check for the microphone?
2. Can I connect an external microphone (bluetooth or not) to the system so I can use the hands-free call? (I don't care much about the voice command, I just want to receive calls hands free while driving.)
3. Any other suggestions?

Edit: I realized that this problem might not be directly related to compass-nav. Is it OK I post this question here?

Hello toeat!

First, if you suspect a problem with our system, please get in touch directly with us. We never failed to answer customers questions and we will help you. Forums are not a suited communication channel as we are not posted immediately.

Best way! info@compass-nav.com or thru our Contact us portal from our website www.compass-nav.com

Regarding you problem, make sure you spell the command as the system wants to hear it. Read your Hyundai manual for more details.

Compass-NAV system will use your factory ceiling microphone and should be functional as it was from factory.

Never hesitate to contact us when problems, WE ARE THERE to serve and help you! :)
