Dear Friends,

This week has been a very exceptional one. So many things have happened; I feel that finally the pieces are falling in to place. The last few months were very challenging in every aspect, but the hard work starts to pay off.

During the development of the product, I tried to stick to my deepest value of being as completely transparent and honest as possible. I took on a personal challenge; to bring to market a product of an exceptional value of performance versus price. Like you, I’m tired of paying exaggerated prices to buy what I really need and want. I’m a newborn in the business; however I think I can bring some fresh air where you and I can be in a win-win situation.

In my mind, and from the beginning, I decided to approach the market in a different way. From the beginning I decided that my main goal would be to beat the portable navigation systems at their own game and integrate a class leading comprehensive GPS solution into an integrated media device. I encourage the customers to consider and compare both options (my integrated solution and the off the shelf standalone GPS devices) and buy accordingly to their needs.

The most difficult task was to build the business according to the above ideal by respecting the profit margins of my suppliers. Compass-NAV, as a company, was founded to minimize the overhead and therefore minimize the impact on final price. I’m in a position today where I can certainly say: “Mission completed”. I was able to create a horizontal business structure to eliminate the waste of money. The whole structure sits on the network of people found on this forum. From the manuals creator, the website designer or the “guinea pig”, everything is working cohesively using today’s technology. The most important thing to mention is all of the participants of this thread that have been following me since the beginning, THANK YOU!! If this thread is growing more than ever, it’s all because of you…. Nothing less.

Today, I can certainly declare that we have in our hands a true master piece of mobile entertainment. The CN-M5 raised the bar in this category in Korea and I’m pleased to integrate their technology to our flavor. We won’t stop it here; we have the room to grow bringing even more exciting features.

Now I’m pleased to present the final offering of the CN-M5 integrated navi-tainment system for your Sonata, look for the “EXCLUSIVES” to Compass NAV’s product. No other vendor offers these features!!

Technology:
The reason why it integrates so well with existing factory features is because the foundation IS from the factory. Let me explain. Most of the offerings today replace the entire radio and dash components to make it “look” factory. The reality is those manufacturers are using a generic box and they adapt it the best they can to your car. The problem is they can’t integrate perfectly because it would cost them too much money to adapt it 100%, thus loosing XM, steering wheel controls etc…. Our approach is different; we use your current factory radio. Yes! The metal box with the tuners and amplifiers of your existing car, we just remove the face of it thus removing only the keypad and the LCD screen only. That leaves the factory flat ribbon cable and the Bluetooth antenna out of the metal box. That ribbon cable is interfaced with a controller module that converts the messages sent and received by the old face and sent now to our Tablet PC. In reality you keep the master component that retains your factory features but they are now going thru a touchscreen interface.

Tan Interior with Wood Trim

I have just finished my install and have included pics. The compass nav trim is similar to OEM. Ay differences would not be noticed with the side panels unless you really look hard.

Gents,

I'm doing my very best to push out the 6 CD version first. Seriously, I'm loading the development center with new models to develop along with additional features already promised. Unfortunately it takes time and my supplier also have other markets too.

I know I'm challenging your patience and it is greatly appreciated. As soon I'm able to give you an ETA, be sure you will be the first to know.

Truly yours,

Charles

ok....if all his system changes is the 'screen' of the unit....why do those of us with the 6CD system lose that function? i'm not following the logic here. seems the 6cd unit is factory...so, it should remain...correct?

Nothing can last forever :(

Still it doesn't mean nothing happen behind the scene. :D

Temp sensor is coming nicely and some other stuff that I'm working on... can't tell too much for now.

I'll post pictures of the temp sensor pre-prod.

See you later.

BTW, for the early adopters, you will be contacted soon to mail you a set of cable.

Thanks!

Charles

So got my unit installed today. I must say I am very impressed with how everything turned out. I would like to give everyone a bit of advice for when they go to install this.

I had most of the cutting pre done because I had an aftermarket radio installed. I also had removed everything air vents etc. ealier this week since I knew that I had to put them in the new dash kit. Basically when I started I had the radio air module and clock plugged up but just sitting inside the dash.

From start to finish with having most of the work pre done it still took me 3 1/2 hours. I would recommend if you have a buddy that would be willing to help do so. I felt confident in my abilities and already knowing what was behind the radio I did it myself.

There were 2 things that took me the longest and one of them is not 100% I would say its 95%. The part that is not perfect is the cd slot. I could not for the life of me get it lined up perfect. You cant tell there's an issue until you insert a cd there's a little lip that you feel while inserting the cd nothing major though. The cd ejects perfect so I didnt sweat it. The other thing that took me the longest was I zip tied all my wires and made it really clean behind the dash kit. I just didn't push all my wires into the dash. I also zip tied the wires to the inside of the dash so nothing would be rattling.

In the instructions it says to place the blue link module on top of the radio and then the gps antenna on top of the blue link module. I could not get the blue link module on top of the radio and then slide the radio into the dash. There just wasn't enough room, at least I couldn't get it to work. What I did was place the gps antenna on top of the radio and the blue link module under the radio it worked perfect. I am not a fan of making anything permanent. When I placed the gps antenna on the radio I zip tied it instead of using the double side tape. That's just my personal preference as I have had problems with double sided tape getting hot then not sticking and I don't want to have to pull the radio back out. The blue link module went under the radio and there is ample space for that and also the clock module that you have to relocate from the original spot above the radio. I zip tied the blue link and clock module together so they wouldn't be bouncing around and rattling.

In the instructions it tells you to put the sd card / usb module in your cubby dept. That requires you to cut a hole in the back of the cubby. I did what the instructions told me to do, but there is another option. I ran RCA's to my glove box because I will be placing a dyd player in there. There is ample wire to run the usb/ sd module to your glove box if you would prefer to do so.

I would recommend a magnetic screw driver. Its a pain in the butt when you drop screws down inside your dash.

The first instruction bookley I got from Charles it showed splicing wires. I guess the "new design" there is no splicing everything was plug and play. That was the best part for me.

As for the unit itself I have only played around with a few things, but so far everything is great. Every function works as it should and runs very smoothly. So far my favorite feature is when I am listening to audio from my flash drive plugged into the cubby dept usb port. I love that you can change the sound of the music and one feature allows you to customize the equalizer to your own preference.

I will keep playing with it more and give more feedback on what I think. I hope this helps some of you out when you go to install this kit. I also want to note Charles responded promptly to all my emails and kept me informed on the status of my order from the time he shipped it until the day it arrived. You can look at the beginning of this thread when Charles was first getting input. I was one of the skeptics, but believe me when I say this I am a true believer now.

P.S Charles I need the temperature to display on the screen.

See you soon!

Charles for everyone who has already purchased your unit will this be something that we will have to purchase extra? Also will the harness on this replace one that is already hooked up to the vehicle or does this add to one of the harnesses that you have already supplied to us?
