Heated steering wheel

I have really enjoyed my 2020 Limited, but it is to bad the Hyundai folks decided to have only one option on the heated steering wheel - hot! All the other vehicles I have owned had three settings for the heated steering wheel. And the silver parts of the wheel do not heat leaving the areas where my hands are normally positioned cold. I sometimes think the designers do not drive these vehicles! While I am in the gripe mode I will mention the idiotic way one has to use to put the mechanical ley in to unlock the door.

How hot is hot? Ambient today is 66 but thought I'd check. My steering wheel with heat on, was in the 88 to 92 degree range, two spots did get to 105. If I was still living up north and it was 4 degrees outside, doubt they would reach that high.

My past experience, even on the coldest days, one I was comfy I'd just shut it off. If you have access to an IR thermometer check to see what you get for comparison.

Never used the key but it probably is a bad spot from what I've seen.

our 2020 sonata was the first car we have ever had with a heated steering wheel. at first, i thought it was a useless option. turns out it was the best option ever. we sold that car, and kept our 2021 elantra, and i sure did miss that heated steering wheel. now we have an ioniq 5, and the heater steering wheel is BACK! i use it all the time, now that it is cold. the wheel has different temps in different places on the wheel, dunno if it is designed that way, but it sure is nice.

Actually, they do drive the cars, but they put there hands in proper position, so, no need to heat the metal parts.. I do often rest a hand on it though.
