Just had my engine replaced under warranty. I’m being told that my new engine is covered for the balance of the factory warranty (25k km) remaining.

Has anyone had any success Trying to get an additional 5 years warranty for the replacement engine? Canada

Hey Chadd.
I live in Ontario . I have a 2016 Sonata 2.4 that had the engine replaced at 108,000 km. It started using oil around 80,000 km. It was using 1 liter every 4,000 km. My dealership that I bought the car from said this was acceptable. Car went into limp mode at around 108, and went to another dealer and they put a new Long block in it. When I asked them about the warranty they told me lifetime warranty on the engine, although they would not put it in writing so not sure if it will be that way or not. I have read our engines should be warrantied till the 200,000km mark. Time will tell.

Hi! I had the catastrophic failure of the engine in my 2016 Sonata back in early June. Had it towed to nearest Hyundai dealer and they had the new engine in within 10 days. That dealer/ representative told me the warranty would cover it "for the balance of your 100,000 mile warranty." This was after another service dept. guy at that dealer had said it would be a lifetime warranty. I already had 81,000 miles on it. Called another Hyundai dealer here in Asheville and he looked up my VIN and said the computer said "lifetime warranty" on the new engine. You should have lifetime warranty coverage.
