Thanks for this post. I am experiencing same problem with my 08 santa fe limited. Heat and cold working in driver side but not on passenger side. I removed the actuator assembly and I tried moving the arm manually and the my cold and heat temperature works on both sides. Does anyone know how to test the motor? I just wanted to test in manually before buying the part, just wanna make sure that it is not the electricals that are toast. Thanks.

I just had my i30 repaired for same problem cost me Diagnostic report faulty air mixer motor $80 / Labour ($110 hr) remove dash panels, replace mixer motor, scan erase codes $165 / Motor ( actuator) $275
$520 + $52 GST
Total $572 AUD
If only I had seen this forum beforehand there are plenty of actuator's on www for $35 -$40 each

I was happy to find this thread and hoped that I had the same problem. But here is the problem with my santa fe 2008 dual climate control.
First driver side works fine all the way from cold to warm. But the passenger side only blows cold air. I will also mention that I live i sweden and its 0 degrees celsius outside so we don't have to worry about ac I only want the heat to return.
Here is the troubleshooting I have done so far. The blend door actuator motor that many of you have problem whit works perfectly fine for me. It moves all the way in both directions. So I disassembled the actuator motor so I could move the blend door by hand. Then I started the car and let the engine warm up. When I move the door shaft I get cold air in one position and all the way to the other side I still get cold air but maybe a few degrees higher.

So this is as far as I got. Two random people suggested that I have to change the door shaft. But I cant see how that can be done. And when I move the door shaft it feels like its working.
And if you guys now of same way to make it alway hot, that would be better that cold in cold sweden :)

New to this forum, so happy to find this post, but looking for some additional info, please!

2006 Santa Fe LTD, 3.5L AWD, single zone climate control, automatic temp (I set desired degrees, no dial to move between hot and cold). Hope that is enough background.

Service history includes compressor (possibly not done ideally), lines and expansion valve, then redo on compressor with two cores (dryer, evaporator?). AC worked, quit having refrigerant leaks, finally. Thought they said there was a leak in heater core (and that it was replaced at that time), but haven't found paperwork yet..

Now heater seems to blow cold on passenger side. Bought the part shown in original post from Amazon. Got in to replace, find config that looks different than I expected.

A "KAMCO" blend door actuator is present in a horizontal position under the dash, near the center column. It appears under the large section that contains cabin air filter (heater core assembly? Sorry, still much to learn). It is roughly below a vertical seam in this assembly that appears to include some sort of foam gasket. There is a visible void in the gasket of 1-2" and cold air is very noticeable through that when heat is turned on.

I do plan to attempt to close the gap. My question is whether the horizontal item I am seeing is replaceable with the Dorman unit I obtained. The original item is roughly the same size, but notable for having metal mounting tabs. I haven't pulled it out yet to see if mounting holes align. Found old one on eBay; it shows a small post on an arm instead of the white "ear" on my replacement. Can't link images, I am too new.

Is there more than one type of flap actuator? I saw reference to "mode" and "blend."

If it is any help, the item I see under my dashboard shows up in search results if you search on the term D332-BBWAA. The top 4 results appear to all be the same item, in different languages. That is what is under the dash now.

Your heater/AC configuration is not available in CM series (where you are now). Best to post it in SM section here >>> SM (2001-2006) Santa Fe - Hyundai Forums : Hyundai Forum

Of interest, the very first post in that section (as I write this) is a question about blend door location by a user xolhardal.

Replaced actuator

I could not get any heat in my 2008 Elantra so I replaced the actuator today. When you turn the control knob to heat motor turns the door to heat with no problem but when you turn the knob to cold it gets stuck half way. You can give it a little push and it will finish turning to cold on its own.

This is what I need to do myself. I have two questions:
1. Can you replace the Driver's Side Actuator without removing the crushing and reinforcement panels ?
2. What would happen if you do not disconnect the negative cable on the battery ?

Thank you very much

Reading back through the threads, it looks like the problems weren't so bad beginning about the 2010 model year - or maybe those cars aren't yet old enough for them to develop the problem with blend door actuators.

Is this another of those issues that Hyundai corrected about eight years ago?

I have read this entire thread and am planning to attempt to change a blend motor on my 2007 Sante Fe dual climate control. I am an industrial mechanic and am familiar with mechanical things. The ac works fine on the passenger side. Not as cool on the driver's side. Does this mean the driver's side is bad or the passenger side motor or both?

My main question is if I can expect the need to pull out the driver's seat to get my body close enough to see and do the work? I am a sizable fellow and not a contortionist if you understand. I just need to get my body and prodressive lenses where I can see things properly. Getting old is not for the faint hearted.

My reasoning would suppose that if the freon is in good condition then my problem would be on both sides etc.

I appreciate your responses.

A HUGE thumbs up to OP TIMH for this how-to.

When the "AC went" on just the passenger side of my 2007 Veracruz last fall (was blowing hot only), I thought to myself some linkage or wire harness buried deep within the dash crapped out, and that I would have to fork over big bucks to my local dealer to fix it or even diagnose the issue. We got through the last bit of warm weather by shutting off the passenger vents and directing the driver vent toward the right to blow AC on whoever was sitting next to me, but quickly forgot about the issue once winter's grip took hold and AC was no longer needed. But a few weeks ago on one warm day, we flipped on the AC and were rudely reminded. That night, I googled it... just for the heck of it. It took me right to this post.

I ordered the part on Ebay from South Korea for about $50 (Amazon didn't have anything cheaper that shipped to Canada). It was Genuine Hyundai Part 97160-3J000 (passenger side), and astonishingly it arrived just 8 business days later. Swapped it out with the failed motor this weekend, and voila! AC on passenger side (and it switches to heat just fine also).

Again, huge thanks to OP. I very much like to tackle my own auto repairs whenever possible, so I greatly appreciated the detailed how-to and photos. In fact, the weekend before I switched out the limit switches on the steering wheel telescopic and tilt, as they were faulty (as per technical bulletin). Now steering wheel tilts and telescopes smoothly once again.

I hope this reply encourages other Veracruz owners with a similar issue to tackle this easy fix!
