Great article and documentation. I am hoping I have the same fix for my problem. In my case I cannot get any heat on the passenger side. And when the A/C is on, I can only adjust the driver side temp while the A/C blasts cold from passenger side. Doesn't matter whether I use the combined or the individual temp control for passenger side. If you have any feedback please let me know.
Thanks.

You neglect to mention the year of your vehicle and haven't stuffed it into your profile here, so it's hard to say if you're in the range of years where this was a problem.

If you're 07-09, strong odds that the blend motor fix will make you a very happy camper.

So I installed a new actuator from Dorman 604-308 and still no change from A/C to Heat. When plugged in and the climate controls are switched from A/C to heat the blue cam does not move!

now what?
Please either complete your profile or add model and trim information (or as easy - does your A/C have dual temperature control for driver/passenger?) to your post. I assume this was a driver's side issue since you used the -308 part.

Have a look at posts like number 27 from this thread. It is possible to make errors in mechanical assembly. Quoting there ... "You have to make sure the mechanism is captured correctly in the actuator. Plug in the actuator, set the car for max heat, let the actuator move in the appropriate direction, then unplug the actuator. Move the car's metal rod control to the extreme heat position, then assemble the actuator to the vehicle."

If nothing is amiss mechanically, then if you have a meter available, have it in hand. If not, find a friend who does.

Time to get out the meter.

Start by checking that there is 5V power between pins 5 (brown) and 7 (gray) on the connector. That's the power for the position feedback pot. Without that, the thing won't have a clue whether it has moved or not.

Next, set up the controls to cause the device to swing between hot and cold temperatures. While doing so, monitor voltage across motor pins 3 (red) and 4 (yellow). See anything there?

Driver's side Blend Door Temp motor / actuator replacement

Thank you all for posting these wonderful information.
After I went to a mechanic shop for fixing my driver's side A/C blowing only hot air, they asked for $200. So I decided to do it myself with your helpful info.
I purchased the part from Amazon (Dorman 604-308 Air Door Actuator) for $38 and obtained some info from "Hyundai Service website" on how to get to this item:
1 - Disconnect the -ve battery terminal
2 - Remove the driver's lower crush panel: This was the harder part as there were tricky places not very clear from the website. Some screws hidden under the side cover. I am attaching some illustrations which I hope they show you how to remove this panel.
3 - Remove the the Reinforcing panel.
4 - Remove the air duct to make way to reach the actuator easily.
5 - Unplug the cable from the actuator
6 - Unscrew the 3 mounting screws and remove the actuator.
7 - Reverse the steps to install the new actuator.

It was successful and I got the freezing cold air again.

I also experienced the lack of warm air on drivers side. The original detailed post with pic was very helpful. Agree with the posts abou disconnecting the battery first. There are no "live" circuits to AC when engine is off. However, I did find it easier to align the control rod stud with the actuator guide as I moved temp selector from cool to warmer. again, great post.

2008 Santa Fe right side heater issue

Dual control system - the driver side heating works Ok, but passenger side blows cold air only (somewhat different issue than this thread).

We had noticed (before this problem occurred) a chattering sound when turning the passenger side temperature adjuster knob colder. The chattering has now disappeared.

My question: is it likely the same cause as the others in this thread?

Actuator for left side temp control,,, and actuator for right side temp control.... replace offending actuator for side with concern

Blend Door Temp motor, single zone controls

I have the single zone climate control in my 2008 Sante Fe and I need to know which side blend door controls the temp, I can see there are blend door motors on both sides but I am not getting heat from either side of the car.

Same questions here. I have an 08 santa fe se with single zone, no dual zone climate control like everyone else in this thread seems to have.

Will Dorman 604-308 Air Door Actuator (drivers side) supposedly help solve the issue on single zone AC as well? ??

For the past 3 years I have kept running into the same problem. In AC mode- Drivers side vents blow hot air, passenger blows cold/cool air. Heat always works fine on both. I always thought it was a freon leak until i learned about this temp actuator. I had freon recharged, lasted 2 months in the summer and problem returned. Had mechanic put in dye, no leakage was visible and within year 2, bam problem returned. Had mechanic suck all freon out, recharge, and monitor the freon level drop for a whole hour. Not a single micro drop which led us to believe everything was good now. Year 3 hot/cold air problem came back again. Recharged with freon and added special stop leak +red dye. Now on year 4 and its back. Cheap freon bottles have been holding me over as band aid fixes for the summer time. Wanted to find a permanent solution that wouldn't would cost me an entire grand or so on auto hvac repair. Surprised none of the mechanics even mentioned the actuator being the problem.
