So I wanted to get your opinion on this matter.

I've had some really bad experiences over the last 2 years with Hyundai dealers and refuse to take my car to them unless its absolutely necessary, such as recall, etc...

So I'm getting ready to do my first oil change at 500 miles, just to kinda flush out any metal shavings from the new motor and any other tiny particles in there.

There's a shop near my house that does excellent oil changes, and I've known them for many years now, So I was thinking of taking my car there. I dont think they'll be using oem parts, such as filters, washers, etc...so would this cause any warranty issues?

should I just buy the parts from the dealer and bring it to the oil change place?

You can use any shop you want. Just keep your receipts for possible warranty claims down the road. For the parts question...I would stick with the OEM Hyundai filter. Third-party filters have been known to cause issues with our engines (ie, knocking). The OEM filters are of very good quality. If your local dealers don't sell them for a decent price there are sellers on ebay that you can buy a case from.

Hyundai actually put out a service bulletin about this.

They already been suck up the oil pump and run through/caught in the filter..

sbr711, thx for the info

would you please be kind enough to check the part numbers for the filter and ring for the drain plug, I have a 2013 Limited 2.0T
Just visit any Hyundai or Kia dealer (same parts),, blue spin on filter, only filter Hyundai used for yrs, and drain lug ring bought by giant bag full by dealer.

Am due for 30,000 mi. maintenance.

Am due for 30,000 maintenance. There is a service garage in my area that does warranty work on all brands of foreign cars. They are usually about one third the cost of the dealer for the same service. What kind of position am I in warranty-wise if I use this garage? I have a 2011 Sonata Limited w/28,500 miles, purchased 2/10
