Welcome to my super awesome build thread!!!!

Update!

I have managed to get my hands on the OEM Ground Effects Kit. Will post pics when installed.

I will updating this main page from time to time and along with the updates throughout the thread.

These are my current modifications along with pictures of a few things:

Front lower bars installed!

Sorry, these were the only good pictures I could take. The longer one in the front took forever to install. It was so hard. But, the one in the back was quite easy. I just used a simple jack to jack up each side. It is a pretty simple install. All you have to do it take out each screw and add the bars and put it back in. You are going to need an extension. And also, for the front ones make sure you get the nut in top to stay still other wise the screw will stay in place.

And also, I purchased myself a DOMO doll for the inside of my windshield. THAT IS TOO JDM TYTE YO! I don't know why I bought it I just thought it was pretty cool/funny.

But, I will keep updating this thread as my other parts are put on. And I am ordering my headers soon.

"Aluminum exterior bolt-ons" reads as rice to me. There are some nice looking splitters being made that aren't giant and obvious, but these ones should be packaged with bolt-on aluminum spoilers.

Did anyone say rice? ;)
about as rice as a front lip i suppose, if we are talking about function over looks. so i guess front lips are ricer mods no matter how nice they look.

cheap "non functional" splitters certainly offer a degree of protection from scrapes in your paint if you are low enough.

Maybe if enough people start modding their accents with kits, they'll finally start publishing pieces in Super Street, Modacar, etc on Hyundais. Not that I really read those magazines though.
That is partly true. I think the whole Hyundai market would have to get into modding though.

I know that a lot of the earlier model accents are getting turbo'd. I don't see too many engine swaps, but if the 2.0 engine in the kia soul is easily swapped into the 2006+ accents, then maybe there could be a situation like there was between the 92-95 Honda Civic and the 94-97 Integra GSR. If that's the case and the engine mounts are a matchup, then hopefully that will be what it takes. Or those magazines could continue to snub hyundai (which is weird because all of their models are KOREAN).

its a matter of who is driving the cars. theres an awful lot of talk for people wishing the aftermarket was better, but i would imagine 99% of accents sold are still driven by people who just use teh car as a to b transportation and have no intent to modify or upgrade their subcompact in any way. I see a lot of SE's in my area, but all stock, and most certainly all automatic.

if someone is in the market for a car they want to upgrade, an accent generally isnt even on the radar.

I think Hyundai has made a lot of smart moves with the genesis platform, but they have a long way to go to convince enthusiasts they can and will build solid performance cars. The aftermarket support is certainly a good indication of that.

It is kind of a sorry state when you go to a dealer for an Accent SE and they can only find maybe 4 cars in their system in manual tran and this is supposed to be the sport model with suspension that would drive the typical driver up a wall.

I think it's more of an image thing though. It isn't that there are tons of people who wouldn't choose the accent over other cars, they just never took the time to research, so they end up with Honda Fits instead and go onto modify those (which have support from HKS, Buddy Club, Etc). I nearly went with the first generation Fit except that leg room is non-existent for the driver and they put an unresponsive DBW throttle in it. They have an easy install HKS supercharger for that. Still, nothing much for the accent except what KFX puts out and I'm not sure exactly how they tuned their engine management for their turbo kit.

they use a piggyback, just as most turbo setups. They are working right now to put the microsquirt with the turbo kit. The problem with every kia and hyundai car is the lack of interest, because 3 or 4 people does not make a business.

I really like those splitters, i'll paint them black and thats it. I dont think it will do anything as far as aerodinamics but it just look good.

The only thing with their setup is that unless I got some old info, it's reprogrammed for a 200HP setup, which seems like it would be too much on stock internals or even with forged pistons. I don't know if they ever considered a programming fee for, say 165HP, 180HP, Etc all the way up to 200. 165 or even 180 would seem safer. That's really all I was wondering

As for the build, I'm sorry that it took me this many posts to compliment it. My personal tastes drive me away from the aluminum fuel cap and hood bra, but otherwise it looks like what they should have offered to have the US models outfitted like this from the beginning (I like the stock look, but it would be nice if they had this kit along with a horsepower boost).
