CV Axle Replacement.

Drivers side CV axle is popping loudly at low speed turns. Especially reversing on my 2002 1.6 automatic. Boot is torn on the hub side and is too far gone to regrease for boot replacement. New axles are supposedly still available, but really expensive, like $400+! And I would like to do both axles along with wheel bearing replacement while I'm in there for that peace of mind.

I know of Rockauto has many options like GSP, Cardone, Trackmotive etc. Has anyone used them with good results?

And I've checked junkyards, but these cars are getting harder to come by. And most that I see are also too far gone or are 5 speed manual cars. I doubt those axles would work on the auto unless someones successfully tried it too?

Have you tried eBay for your axles?
I've used eBay a ton looking for OEM parts at prices way cheaper than OEM and knowing they're still factory OEM parts.

Cardone is a good company and has been around the industry for years.
Good luck and hope you get a good deal somewhere for your older Accent.

A few years ago I bought both front cv axles for my FWD 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe from RockAuto. I bought the Trackmotive brand. I installed them myself. They work just fine.

Also unless you have replaced wheel bearings before with success, I would suggest you buy the complete Steering Knuckle & Wheel Hub Bearing Assembly it's much easier to deal with.

I have used "Trackmotive" CV axles for my 2001 Elantra and for my 2017 Rav4. Replace is fairly easy except for the driver's side of the 2017 Rav4. The bracket from **** would not release the CV axle. So, had to remove and replace the bracket.

As for wheel bearing, must look to see if it is a bolt on (which I doubt) or press in. Press in requires special tools. I have replaced my right front wheel bearing on my 2007 CRV. Bought the tools and press kit. Took me many hours due to rust. Wanted to do both sides but when I finished with the right side, I decided if it ain't broke then don't fix it. It has been a few years and the left side is fine.

Wish you luck in your project. Watch a few videos to learn what to expect. Remember stuff never seems to go as good as the videos.

Ordered a Cardone driver side axle from Rockauto along with new Hyundai brand front wheel bearings. Found a genuine Hyundai right side axle on ebay for good deal at just under $100 shipped. Did find a drivers side one too. But it was for manual cars. Not fond of having different brands for each side. But it'll have to do.

I'm all good with replacing the parts myself. I'm not a tech, but do my own wrenching and have all the tools needed to do the wheel bearings. And if not, I have a friend that is a tech at a subaru dealer, and they do wheel bearings and axles all the time lol.
