So I'm thinking of buying the '06 Sonata. Which colours do you guys/gals have or think looks the best? Up here we have 8 choices (2 less than Americans I believe):

Black
Pearl White
Aquamarine
Crimson
Crystal Silver (more like Baby Blue)
Steel Grey
Beige
Deepwater Blue

Anything, aside from black, is a $125 option.

I'm leaning towards Pearl White but other opinions is valued. I've had black before and it looks great when polished, but over the years the swirl marks and scratches really stand out.

Well, I placed it in the profile page but it does not show up here... WHY?!?! WHY!?!?! WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!?

I had trouble with my avatar - it looked like I couldn't get it to stay. In fact when I close my IE and opened it up again it was there - I think there may be a "cookies" issue with the site. Try that mama - attach your picture and exit from IE - come back in and see what happens.

Black!!!!!!!!!!

To me, the ebony black color on a car somehow makes the car look more elegant....dunno why. Silver would be close second and White would be the absolute last on my list...

I also have an Ebony Black sonata and I'm in 100% agreement with Pennywise on this one. I originally wanted a steel gray one but Mrs. MC had a batty friend who sold her on the supposed fact that the only reason said batty friend got T-boned in a rainstorm was because her Elantra was silver, so you should never get a silver or gray car!!! You know, I'll bet she's right - I'm sure she got wrecked because her car was silver, and not because the other driver was simply careless and ran a stop sign. But I digress... :eek:fftopic:

I think it'll be a long while before I get a white car again. Nothing against pearl white, but I've had 4 white vehicles that accounted for about 12 of my 14 total years of driving. Just a little bit sick of white.

Nope, doesn't work... Photo no show.... Though I am not using IE I am on the Mac and it's Safari here, but I don't think that to be the issue...

MC, steel gray and silver are quite different... The steel gray is a lot darker than the silver. And MUCH nicer.

And I wouldn't totally ignore what your wife's friend says about the silver being not visible enough.... I do think it tends to CAMOUFLAGE with the surroundings...

Many years ago there was a research published in Europe about car colors, and they found out that the SAFEST color for a car is ORANGE... And many cars in Europe are orange, and other vivid colors that we don't see here....

As for the steel gray blending in, I find it hard to think that a 3540-pound, machine-formed hunk of metal, glass, and rubber with lights on would be rendered utterly invisible in a rainstorm, or any other environmental event with the possible exception of ultra-dense fog (and you really shouldn't drive through that anyway, since all cars are invisible in that situation).

And trust me, I ignore everything her friend says. She's probably trying to get my wife to join some cult as we speak. I can't ignore what my wife says, though - well, at least not all of the time - and her friend got her to buy into her silver causing wrecks misconception. So no steel gray or silver for me.

Yeah, I know steel gray and silver are different colors and all that, but why try to reason rationally with someone who's being irrational in the first place. It was just easier to buy the black - fewer headaches. Looks pretty nice, too.

Maybe someday I'll buy steel gray and tell my wife it's orange until she believes me - if she'd believe that loon of a friend, maybe I could eventually pull the wool over her eyes if I worked hard enough.

How is it safer? Orange sounds quite dreadful and it brings back the faded memory of my dad's tiny Ford Pinto from back in early 80s. I dont recall seeing any orange after that one....

It was recently that Nissan started promoting their new Murano with the stock orangish color (which i still thinks look ugly!) that caught some attention :

But then again, ugly colors would only make us guys with the black cars look even better!! :p

I'm picking up my Sonata tomorrow morning in Powder White! By far the classiest color IMHO. Also, white cars look bigger to me. Steel Gray was my second choice, but when I saw the powder white, I was sold. As far as it being a girly color, I respectfully disagree. Now Silver Blue and Golden Beige, those are girly colors to me...

Color is a matter of personal taste. That's for sure.

BUT THERE ARE SOME FACTS:

A. The orange I mentioned is not a matter of nice or ugly... That was not the issue, it was the color that was found to be the SAFEST, most visible on the road. Which is not too difficult to comprehend.

B. Dark colors tend to show dirt quicker. A dark color car would need to be washed more frequently than a light color car. In that respect silver and gold-beige would be the best colors.

C. Yes, a white car looks ALWAYS larger than a black (or dark color) car.

More facts:

A. Most people (except for maybe hunters) would say that orange, although safe, is quite ugly.

B. I don't mind washing my car. I've got nothing against metallic beige in general (have it on my Yukon), but didn't like it on the Sonata. Personal preferences right?

C. Didn't particularly need for my car to look big. Most cars look small with my gargantuan corn-fed self driving them and scraping the headliner with my pate anyhow.

Hi,

I chose the Dark Cinnamon, for two reasons:

1/ in low light or at night, the car almost looks black and,
2/ during the day, the metalflake in the paint really comes out, giving it just the right hint of sparkle.

It also is a really classy colour. The other thing is that so many people are driving white, black or silver vehicles, it is nice to stand out.

Sea, lake, river....it's all water anyway, right?

I guess. But going on 6-7 months without really knowing the color of your car?
I also had this problem about 5 years ago with my F150. Umm...well...I still have that problem. The color was something like Chesterfield or something. Never really cared. All these stupid fancy names now-a-days. It was deep blue for the most part, and just like the Sonata, it changed colors depending on the time of day. My Sierra was easy though: Just plain Pewter. :)
