Cold Air Intake Or Short Ram Intake?

I've heard that the SRI's are actually better for accents than the CAI's. Does anyone have any information on this? Have you upgraded yourself? What should I look forward to if I'm performing the install myself? I'm a novice so I want to make this an easy upgrade. Also, which Brand/Model would you recommend? Would I need to reprogram the ECU or anything? I have the 2003 1.6L DOHC M/T Accent...no other engine modifications.

I have the SRI on my 04 Accent and I love the growl and hissing of it ... good mileage , not a big improvement but better non the less . Here is a picture of what it looks like ... my Brother made the braket to fit in the mount on the engine block .[attachment=29156:100_0233.jpg]
I choose SRI over CAI because the chance of hydrolock are 90% greater , thats when the air filter suck up water from a puddle or its raining out and kills the engine literally ... but they do make boxes that go over these to help protect the filter but can fail by a rock hitting it wrong or small bumper collisions .

i noticed on Ebay that there is very little choice of Short ram intakes for the 07 Accent. but alote for previous models. is there a difference of the 06 and 07? the layout looks the same to me and i really didnt want to pay over 100 bucks for a intake.
You are looking in the wrong area. Go to the MC forum area. Hyundai has been having a huge sale on SRI on the 06-11 Accent since June. You can grab one for about $40 plus shipping.

Is it worth the money to put a SRI on my 2003 Accent? It has 290,000 km's and I commute a total of 150km's per weekday. I was hoping for a mileage gain but I don't know how long these engines can last.
Don't expect much of a mileage gain. On my 2010, the mileage stayed about the same after adding SRI. It might have gone up by 0.2 mpg. So if you are hoping to save lots of money in gas, SRI won't provide it. If you are looking for quicker throttle response, a little better acceleration, and greater noise, than SRI is a worthwhile investment.
