Hope I can find some assistance. My 06 Sonata threw a CEL. Used code reader and it shows a P2422. I replaced the canister close valve and checked vent tube for blockage - none. Cleared the code but hey came back. What can I check next?

Before throwing in the towel.
Please check the wires to the vent valve.
It maybe frayed or opened
That would give you the same symptom as a bad vent valve??

I'm having a similar issue with my 06 Sonota. In fact I joined this forum just to view the previous attachment lol. But it really didn't help my situation. I have replaced the valve under the hood AND by the filler neck. Is there an another one on the tank? I have driven for over a hundred miles without a CEL but the catalyst monitor remains incomplete. At around 150 miles the CEL came back on. I cleared the P2422 code and will continue to drive it and see if I can somehow get the cat monitor to clear. I just want the thing to pass inspection. If any of you guys can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
The valve under the hood is a purge control solenoid valve
There should be a hose that goes from the fuel tank to the charcoal canister
And another valve attached to the canister called a vent valve
P2422 concerns the vent valve
I am not familiar with your vehicle so I don't know about the valve by the filler neck
Good luck

Hey guys, its me with the Stupid Sonata lol. Found a better way to log in. Anyway, just trying to gain some traction on this thread. The closed solenoid code is not curently throwing the CEL. Now I have codes for leaks. What do I do?
Smoke test
The mechanic hooks up a smoke machine which also checks the pressure the system can hold
If there are leaks then smoke will come out of the leak
However there may be a one way valve between the fuel tank and the charcoal canister?
This would prevent smoke from going to the gas tank. And prevent diagnose of the tank and gas filler?

I have been fighting with my own emissions evap code.

What is your leak codes in proper "Pxxxx" format ??

Other fella with vent concern,, find the vent air filter, and make sure it not clogged with road dirt / debris.... seen many a XD Elantra with dirt/mud between liner and body that capped off the opening to the vent air filter...

NO,, follow hose away from canister,, past the canister close valve to where ever it ends (I'm too lazy right now to log in and find it on Hyundai Service site,, been 90 minutes cutting grass)..

I also have the CEL light on, and the scan tool showed a minor EVAP leak, although I don't remember the actual code as it was several months ago. From what I have read it appears likely to be the canister close valve, as I understand this is a typical fail on the Sonata. My nose also tells me to suspect this, as after filling the tank and sloshing the fuel around the corners on the way home, upon exiting the car I often can smell fuel, perhaps fumes making there way up to the air filter (and my nose) through the open valve? Or perhaps a bad gas cap. In any event, I was wondering if the CCV can be replaced without dropping the tank (as for the charcoal canister). On that note I am confused a bit as well, as the factory shop manual I have (2009, the dealer told me they did not produce a 2010, perhaps due to the pending model change) shows the valve at the top of the tube, adjacent to the air filter but all the internet images show it adjacent to the charcoal canister at the tank.

I too am lost. But I was able to pass inspection, so I'll worry about it next year lol. Right now I'll just have to tolerate an intermittent Check Engine Light. Having replaced the sensors under the hood and by the filler neck, my next reasonable option is to replace the one by the tank/charcoal canister. But after removing the rear seat, where I'm told there is typically access, to no avail, it seems I'll have to drop the tank...
