Coasting to a stop

So in my previous 2019 Sonata, I used to pop the car in neutral while coasting to a stop light as it seemed to reduce drag from the transmission. When I got my new 2019 (traded up for a limited), I started thinking maybe this practice was potentially harmful so I stopped doing it. So question to readers of this forum, helpful, harmful or neither?

When coasting in gear the ECU shuts the FIs down to idle flow.
I'll add that it's called DFCO (Deceleration Fuel Cut Off).
It goes back to the first electronic fuel injected cars, like my 1985 Accord.

I sometimes coast in neutral going down a slight slope, where I would otherwise have to use the throttle to maintain speed.

Of you learn to drive a MT real good, you almost have no use for brake pad except for last 25yd or less of stop. Had set that was a a number of yr old, and over 100,000 mile, took them off due to rotor rust and grit sounds when stopping, was afraid linings peel due to rot.. Changed set on daily ride here with over 100,000, though my daily drive doesnt know what city is

Son is different story. he has MT car, but he shoves into "N" and I feel car get loose now with no drag, and he rides brake pedal, brakes dont last long the more you stand on that pedal
