That would actually be the GTS-R, we already have a GTS model (and have for years)

The GTS-R project has actually been put on hold for a while as they are having issues fitting the LS7 engine into the engine bay due to the vehicle being RHD and the engine needing some form of external oil cooling and the brake boosters, etc getting in the way.... Keep waiting... the 427 has been on the drawing board for more then 5 years now....

Yeah, some people like them, and others dont. Alot of our larger saloon cars are now being heavily influenced with European DNA (The Kinetic styling theme I think they call it), which is a bit different to the American design of things.

Holden will be exporting a number of their vehicles to the states this year, inlcuding the HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) GTS or R8 which will be rebadged as the Pontiac G8, and they will also be exporting the Ute (Ranchero style pickup truck) and the wagon variant (the old wagon was built on the LWB chassis but is now built on the SWB chassis and they refer to it as the Estate Wagon).

I hope to see more of our cars getting world wide exposure.

Take a look at www.hsv.com.au which is the Performance arm of Holden and www.fpv.com.au which is the performance arm of Ford Australia. There are some really wicked tuned vehicles there including the Ford F6 engine which is a Turbo Straight 6 cylinder 4 litre engine which puts out 270kw (362hp)... great fun!

Yeah - I'd forgotten the capri. I once owned a Mustang II that had been fitted with a V6 Capri engine. Went like **** but there was so little room under the hood you could barely change the spark plugs.

There were no fast production Fords here in the mid '70s - the company was either trying to do economy (Pinto, Maverick) or pseudo luxury, LTD, Thunderbird (the huge one not the sports coupe)

I know this reply is a bit late but I only just joined so here goes

The Capri Ducko is talking about is this one

An Australian built leaky thing, unless they had a different spec in the US they only came out in a 4 cyl n/a or turbo, they V6 capri was an earlier UK model which is this one

mind you I am sure they had later model ones in the UK but we dont see much variety in cars in Aus and usually end up with the models no one else wants, in fact Hyundai stopped importing the highlander spec Terracan into Australia because they wanted to fill the US market so I bought a Land Rover instead

I was recently in Tokyo and got to sit in the Nissan GTR at a Nissan studio. I barely fit (6'4") the cockpit is so tight. Many of the same interior bits are currently in my Infiniti G35, but a nice looking car we'll finally get later this year. GM is finally waking up from years of building/designing TERRIBLE cars. Ain't competition good!!! If they import the "Ranchero" trucklet it will not sell well here, just ask Subaru. The G8 will be a huge success for Pontiac/GM and stealerships will have 10-20k markups and ruin it for most buyers of this brand.

I also went to Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Mostly small type front wheel drive cars, but loaded with things we don't get here in the US. The look of the cars are much better, even the Hyundai's are nicer looking than the versions we get. It seems they think of US versions as appliances while other countries consider there vehicles in a higher regard. Saw plenty of tuner stuff too....if only I had larger luggage.
