I was wondering if anyone has tried this and what the results have been? I’m assuming it would work, as I believe the blue link system is android based and this adapter is supposed to work with any android based head unit. I just purchased one and will update everyone once it comes in

I am interested also but the reviews on Amazon are not looking good. My 2015 Sonata's radio has a USB input but so far it appears to only work for audio input from either my phone or a flash drive. At a $129.00 price tag, I think I will take a wait and see stance on this. Thanks for posting about this though.

Yeah I saw a lot of the reviews that were negative too, but I am hoping it’s just a case of people that never went back and updated their reviews or didn’t bother with trying to upgrade to the latest firmware. From what I’ve read in other reviews the company has been working on improving the way the system works and it is much better than it was 6 months ago, but we will see. I’ll provide an update once it gets here from China

I was given one for Christmas. It didn't work (at all) on my car, but it came right up on my buddy's 2020 Genesis. He stopped using it because he couldn't listen to Spotify and have Waze running at the same time. There wasn't enough available bandwidth on the wireless connection.

The product is a great idea. The implementation...not so much. Plus, the 24/7 customer support isn't; and it's all done in China, so you have to wait at least two days for them to respond to e-mails with "Have you updated the firmware?" FWIW, I couldn't update the firmware because it wouldn't work AT ALL in my car. I explained my situation several times and they kept telling me to update the firmware. which you can only do this via the car.

tl;dr: No instructions. No support. Didn't work in my car

From what I saw to update the firmware you actually want to do it while not connected to your car. You load the firmware file onto a usb Drive, plug the usb drive into the car play adapter, then power the device by plugging it into a computer or wall USB adapter. Once both led’s turn on the firmware upgrade is successful.

Also, it may work better for your buddy if he changes the audio settings in Spotify from uncompressed to compressed. Worth a try at least

I did notice that it’s all Chinese but I am going to give it a try because it’s such a pain in the a** to plug my phone in every time i want to use Waze or maps

I agree that not having to plug in the phone every time would be nice but for my use most of my driving is 1hr (65 miles) or longer 5 days a week one way to work. Without plugging in to charge while using WAZE and my music for extended drives would leave me with a low or dead battery on my phone.

If I had the 2018 or newer with the wireless charging it would make sense and be easier.

Yeah I don’t understand why they haven’t built it in either. It’s literally as simple as adding a WiFi broadcast adapter and recoding the head unit to work in conjunction with the Bluetooth for factory wireless car play. It would probably cost them $10-30 per vehicle on the scale that they manufacture

I had a friend update the software on the WiFi dongle. Still did absolutely nothing in my 2016. In his 2020 Genesis, performance with Waze navigating & Spotify playing was still terrible.

If you are thinking about buying one, my advice is to save your money.

Ok so I got this in today and have been testing with it. It connected to the radio in my 2018 sport right away and was recognized without issue. I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it yet but I have used it for maps and waze with radio audio, no streaming audio without issue. As mentioned by the previous comment, I did notice some slight buffering issues when I introduced streaming music from Spotify while using maps and waze. I can’t rule out my phones lte connection as of yet but I am going to download a playlist and try it again later to see if it’s the lte or if it’s the WiFi connection on the device. I also messaged the seller to see if they’ve had this issue reported by others and if there is a firmware update available for it.
I will provide further updates on my findings later today but so far it’s a lot better than I was expecting. Hopefully it’s just a matter of the manufacturer prioritizing streaming music audio over gps data in the firmware

Ok so I downloaded a playlist to my phone on Spotify and played that while using maps and waze. There were still issues so that rules out my cellular connection and stream compression settings.

when I got to work I saw that there was an OTA firmware update available for the dongle so I went ahead and ran that. With the new firmware it is definitely a lot better, though still not perfect. It is not cutting out every time the route recalculates, but still cutting out occasionally.

I will be in further contact with their customer service as it seems that they have a direct relationship with the people working on and debugging the software and seem to be making efforts to fix the bugs. Hopefully in time it will only get better but it works amazingly well when I use just Spotify or just maps / waze, and since my biggest use of car play is for gps, I am happy enough with it to keep it because it means I don’t have to deal with plugging a cable in every time I get lost while driving.

Edit: I should note that I have voice guidance off on maps and all sounds off on waze since this is how I normally drive

Hey everyone! Sorry to revive a year + old thread, but I wanted to provide an update on this in case anybody is in the market. I have still been using the same Carlinkit wireless CarPlay adapter, but hadn’t updated firmware since my last post. I decided to check to see if there were any new updates this afternoon, and sure enough there were 5 or 6. You have to install them one by one unfortunately, and keep updating it until it shows no further updates. It takes about 30 minutes of running the sequential updates.

Once you are on the latest version (from November of 2020) all previous issues that I had mentioned with this dongle have now been fixed. Able to use Waze (with Nav audio on) while streaming from Spotify. No Spotify audio issues when rerouting, etc.

If you still have one of these laying around, I highly recommend putting the effort into updating it.

If you’re looking to buy one, it’s worth it, you’ll just have to make sure it’s fully updated.

Hello. I am new to the forums and I have a question. I bought a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport last month and I'm loving it so far, but I would love to have have Android Auto/CarPlay. I read about your success with the adapter and even watched some Youtube videos and read Amazon reviews on how it works. In the one of the reviews, a guy commented that he had success with the adapter in his 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. I wanted to know if it would also work in my 2013 SFS. Any help is appreciated!
