Has anyone found the cabin airfilter for the Azera in the after market ? The price for the OEM at the dealer is just like....Yeah ......I don't think so.

In order to access the glove box cylinder I had to remove the small outside panel to the right side of the glove box, then disconnect the cylinder and lower the glove box. It's a small almost triangular part at the end of the dashboard. It has a small opening that allows you to grab and pull. Otherwise how did you release the glove box?

On mine, when you open the glovebox, on the right-hand side there's a bifurcated post, about 1/2 inch in diameter and an inch long, with a little nub of a restraint on the outer end of the "inner" bifurcation. The "cylinder" end slips over the post with the nub holding it on, then merely squeeze the befurcated post together a bit and the cylinder slips off. Then you squeeze the glove box sides to drop it, and... like that...

... it just occurred to me, are you somehow removing the stops that keep the glove box from dropping down? You don't have to do that, just squeeze the box sides inward a bit to clear the stops...

Gamle,
Just checked my manual and you are right. In my Sonata you have to remove the panel and I just assumed that to be the same for the Azzy. Next time it will be much easier. I stand corrected. In any case it's amazing how filthy the filter becomes. The cabin air filter certainly lends itself to having clean air to breathe. "Have a good one." :liebe011:

I went to 2 different Hyundai dealerships, and purchased an aftermarket cabin air filter and none of them are like the original filter that came with the car.

The one that came with the car was a thick pleated filter with a plastic web-like webbing holding it together.

The new ones I bought were cheap flimsy paper-like versions. So flimsy they didn't fit in the black casette correctly.

I called Hyundai customer service, but no luck so far.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

If I can't get the thick pleated kind, I am going to try the 3M filter like in other posts.

Thanks

The one I bought from my Hyundai dealer was an exact replica of the OEM in the car (minus the lovebugs and crud).

I haven't yet cut up the large, high-quality home air-handler filter that I bought (which should make four Azera filter replacements) as I still have nearly 4k miles to go to reach the 20k mile mark...

The original part # 97133-3k000 is the thick pleated version that came with the 2006 azera and sonata.

It has since been replaced with a cheap paper version that in some circumstances will not expand correctly around the black plastic housing causing air and debris to pass through the filter.

If anyone has access to the thicker pleated version, I would like to buy one.

Thank you

Just cut a new one from the Filtrete. Very easy, about 10 minutes. I can cut 4 from a 20X25 filter. A bit of advice- don't try to remove the cardboard edging, it's glued on good. I just drew the outline from the old filter with a Sharpie iside the frame, then used heavy duty scissors to cut through the medium and the wire that was also glued on. This was the 1250 $20 model. The 1200 $16 model I use in the house looks like it would be easier to cut. I think it will work well since CR says it's excellent at dust removal.

By the way, now that I bought a second filter (retaining the receipt) and began to fill out the rebate form and then got stuck on circling the "model #, FAP-01 thru FAP-04," and NOW do some more looking, I find that you don't get the rebate for any filter unless you first buy one of four Filtrete Air Purifiers, which plug in to the wall:

Filtrete air purifiers help clean your indoor air.

• Quiet operation

• 25-30% more air circulation

• 35-41% higher pollen capture rate

• Filter change indicator

• 3 speed fan

Since my filter doesn't have a motor or a filter change indicator (but is IS very, very quiet  , I don't get a rebate, and neither will you...

I hate it when that happens  All the $25 ones posting on here are at a better price but still that is more than the engine air filter and if you have pulled that giant thing out you will have to wonder why. The cabin filter is half the size using a fraction of stuff to make it.....guess they sell alot more of those though.
(refering to aftermarket or OEM filters) Hmmmm wonder if I should take the K&N out of my wifes car and chop it  she would never know..............then I would have a life time high flow cabin air filter :whistling: OK..mabe not.
If I still have a car :crying: The pain !

Rumor has it that the OEM Azera cabin air filters are hand-made by a little old lady in a village outside of Seoul...

Probably more like a 12 year old girl in a village outside of Seoul.
I went to Singapore with Motorola and got to see them assembling cell phones......All girls. I swear they looked 15 at the most and not one of them would look up. The men were engineers and such..not one woman. This was 1993...no offense to anyone from Singapore....But that's what I saw.
