The electric motors get hot and they will smell.

 

That sounds like a huge flaw that they don't have a form of cooling to keep it from doing that to the point where it could catch fire

 

After driving 5 minutes, touch the spokes of the wheel - do not touch the brake disc, it can burn hand - see if it warmer than the other wheels- seize/locked brakes. Usually overheated brakes have a fool nasty smell

 

Checked all 4 not the brakes or seized wheels all are still cool

 

I use to work for hyundai processing center down in Philly navy yard. You'd be suprised, iv smelt heavy coolant smells and burning smells from both Kia And Hyundai. One time the coolant smell was so strong i had the employee driving the car pop the hood so i can look for a leak and report it. Nothing was found. Idk why or how. But it was a somewhat common thing.
As for your case, idk. I just thought id share.

Wel **** I've looking under vehicle for leaks checked engine for oil leaks and nothing

 

Sometimes H needs time to find the issue or a fix. Till then, I'd park car outdoors to be safe

 

They can't even look at the vehicle and have no loaners. Hyundai canada said the basic warranty doesn't include rentals only extended does for 5 days only. I told them I have 3rd party extended but that doesn't kick in till after 100k. Dealers understand I'm frustrated but seems like their hands are tied as all have said u need to book it in. I said it's a emergency u don't book emergency a week out.

 

If a cable or module is overheating it's not necessarily going to be visible. May try a temperature scanner but no guarantee

 

That's something I've never though of but I'm guessing a thermal camera would be better so it gets what's behind the sheet metal and u can see wires or the motor heating up.
I wish like engine temp gage it gave a electric motor temp Guage.

 

I have the fixd scanner I will see if it can if not then I'm sol lol

 

Update: my local dealer said it was a plastic bag on muffler that melted cost me $40 to get it to be taken off. Still checking every couple of days. Just incase it wasn't that and they lied.
