Automatically open CarPlay?

Is it possible to have CarPlay automatically open when I start the car?

In another forum, a user said that if I put the phone projection tile first, it would start automatically – as it does for them. I have not had this experience. I always have to tap the phone projection icon (or hit the star button on my dash, which is programmed to start carplay).

Is there some other setting that controls this?

@misnblu Thanks for the tag.

@wemmickdc You've run into one of the more common quirks of the Hyundai infotainment system. The short answer is no, there isn't a setting to have CarPlay launch automatically and take over the full screen on startup. The system is designed to always boot to its native environment first, treating phone projection as an application you have to open.

The advice about rearranging the icons is a persistent myth that, as you've discovered, doesn't quite hold up in practice. Frankly, your current method of using the programmable star button is the most efficient workaround available. It turns a multi-tap process into a single press, which is about as close to "automatic" as the system will allow. You've already found the best solution, even if it wasn't the one you were hoping for.
