Auto Hold setting not being saved between restarts - 2024 Limited

The owner's manual says that whatever your last setting for auto-hold was, is supposed to be saved and re-applied next startup. That doesn't work, but we'd like very much for it to work so that auto hold will always be enabled. Also the ISG doesn't work, but we are kind of glad that it doesn't. We're curious if these problems are related. Ideally, I'd like ISG to be off all the time and it's my understanding that if you want it off all the time, you have to hit the "A" - Avenger button every time you start the car...except it is not working at all. And, we'd like auto hold to be enabled all the time. Anyone know what's happening?

Welcome!

There are so many conditions that apply for those two things to work that the best advice is to re read especially when Auto Hold and ISG won't work and the reasons why. That may help in why you are seeing what you are.

Auto Hold staying in the position it was when turning the car on is a new feature it used to default to off. I'm thinking there may be something covered in the online manual that explains why you see it off when you start the car.

That must be a new feature for Auto Hold to stay on. I'm on my third car with it 2015, 2018, 2023, and it will not remain on. Hit the button every time.

The ISG is mandated to be on at start by the EPA. There are work arounds, but it won't be from the car maker. ISG must meet some parameters before it kicks in. Battery charge, engine temperature, etc.
No idea if they are related

I noted that others have said auto hold doesn't stick. It is in the 2024 manual saying it retains the last setting. I think it's just malfunctioning or needs a firmware update because we owned a 2024 Kona N-Line briefly that we traded in for the Tucson Limited. The Kona did retain the Auto Hold setting after shutdown. It also never exhibited ISG behavior as I would not have liked that. So, I'm unsure if a federal mandate applies to all. Btw; we liked the Kona, but traded it in due to being a GDi only motor. As you probably know, the 2.5 motor is both GDi and MPi which is the resolution for carboned up intake valves. I never knew about GDi til the Kona, but once I found out about it; I'd rather take the $4 to $5k hit trading in the Kona. This is a problem that all car makers are facing, but they all know that the fix is to add back in MPi. I'm disgusted with the car industry and regulators who caused this problem. GDi alone seems to pollute worse than whatever supposed benefits it provides... a few miles per gallon maybe. But the valves get filthy very quickly and I did not want to babysit the motor for the next five to ten years, adding seafoam or whatever every oil change which I'm told should now be 3 to 4k miles instead of 8k in the manual. AND, dirtied up valves are not covered under warranty unless it actually breaks something else. But, I'd have to pay for walnut blasting or equivalent every x miles with the hope that chunks of carbon don't break off and wreck the catalytic converter or turbo. No thanks to all that. Shame on the entire car industry for this debockle.

You're behaving like a troll. Your first comment was one of seeming disbelief. "Please post a photo of the manual page that says Auto Hold stays ON all the time. " Two of us looked it up for you which you could have easily done, and no " thank you " to either of us.
Your second response to a comment from me was misleading and incorrect as it had nothing to do with the discussion. And now this time your "smart a__ " moderator response is unneeded and just serves to provoke a fight.
Here is what I said -
"That's our plan, but imagine having to hit both buttons every single time we start the car. The 2024 >> Kona << NLine did indeed remember the last setting of auto-hold and ISG didn't even come into the picture. See below that only the Kona SE has ISG. So, while we generally like the Tucson better than the Kona; we don't like the ISG which appears to be only on the SE model of the Kona and we had the NLine which as you see below doesn't have the plague (ISG). Hoping sharkracing has a module for the 2024 Tucson."
SE (2.0L w/ISG)SEL/SEL Conv. (2.0L)N-Line/Limited (1.6T)

Here is your response that is not at all related to the conversation -
The ‘24 Tucson N-Line is a hybrid model with a 1.6 turbo engine. That’s why it does not have ISG. << That is a false statement. I was talking about how the Tucson gas model compares to the Kona gas model. They ARE different in that the Tucson has ISG and the Kona NLine gas model does not.

Please get off my back.

So I've driven three 2025 models of the Santa Cruz Santa Fe and Kona and these settings will stick between drive cycles the feature is supposed to be working for 2024 but it seems it's only been implemented in 2025 models. I think a software update or computer dealer update would fix that so it may or may not be fixed. I would love to know if it can but for now just like Wireless Android auto not being available for the 2024 Limited Editions and all of a sudden it is available for the 2025s I'll just chalk it up to Hyundai not covering all their bases well

I'm curious about the 2025 Tucson. We owned the 2024 Kona briefly and know that it saved the setting permenantly; just not the Tucson. The other issue for us and even bigger was the auto-stop of the engine at traffic stops. So that little korean board I installed under the cupholder fixed both that and the autohold between restarts. I hope Hyundai would have fixed both by now, but they designed that car to auto stop and start and we absolutely hated that we have to turn both those features off every time we started the car. But we're totally happy with the little board. It works perfectly. I'm surprised I haven't gotten much feedback in the instructions I posted for installing it. I took more time writing those with pictures than even doing the install. But I suppose folks might be using it but not posting that they did so as for warranty sake (if they were worried about that), there would be no record of it. But maybe few people found it useful enough, or it was beyond their technical ability. We love it though and have not given this a thought in almost a year.
