Has anyone heard what the latest is on remote start? I'm more interested in the iPhone App working than the phone call method, which seems to be hit-or-miss and not official. (Never worked for me)

I was told when I baught my Sonata (2012 lx with nav) that it worked out the door (in fact, when I went back to the dealership for oil changes, the salesman was shocked to hear that not only didn't it work day 1, but that it still isn't working). Apparently I'm not unique in this regard.

The official word from Hyundai was fall 2011, well....now its spring 2012, and not even an update.

Remote start is honestly the main reason i'm paying for this essentials package....so I'm starting to get a little annoyed.

This was posted on the Hyundai Think Tank BlueLink discussion page on 4/16/12:

Hello Everyone! We are very excited to announce that Remote Start is now available on 2012 Azera, 2012 Sonata Hybrid and 2013 Genesis Coupe models that are equipped with push-button start and automatic transmission.
Further details on availability for 2012/2013 Sonata (2.4 and 2.0T models) and 2012 Veloster will be announced in the next couple of weeks. Please stay tuned and thank you for your ongoing patience as we conducted further testing and evaluation of this feature prior to launching it as part of Blue Link services.
And this:

Hey Everyone,
We are about a month away from the release of the Blue Link Mobile App 2.0. It has an all new look and navigation. You will now swipe or quick select your remote access features. Plus we are introducing a new map interface so you can search for a POI or a local dealer. In addition, we are moving some capability to work with your alerts on the app as well. Take a look at some of the early images of the new app and let us know what you think. Keep in mind that we may make some small changes over the next month.
Hope you like and are as excited about this new app as I am.
Take it for whatever it's worth. Hopefully sooner than later, but we'll see it when it happens.

At the New York Auto Show I found someone at the Hyundai area to vent on. I don't know if she was an actual representative or a hired face to walk around and talk about the car.

She said by the fall of 2012 there shouldn't be any bugs. She tried to tell me that they always planned to have it done by 2013 calender year but the execs wanted it in the 2012 models so it was rushed out before all the software was finalized.

Take it for what it's worth.

How much does the essentials package cost? I'm still in the free trial mode.

I'm excited for the remote start to work, will love it in the winter.

Remote start will work right now via a phone call. Call 855-225-8354, select option 1, then 1 again, log in, and say "start engine". The car has to be locked.

The android app, on the other hand, has apparently been abandoned. It won't even run on the latest version of android. I am still on the trial of blue link, unless the app is updated I will be canceling.

I'm sure they will upate it to run on ICS in 2.0 that will get released next month.

Crossing fingers...

I just finished trying to remote start my car from a iphone (instead of android) and it's still not starting and giving me the message, "coming soon"... Sonata SE built 11/11

"Coming soon" for 10 months. "Soon" is a relative term. "Soon" to Hyundai could mean by 2013.
