Been using both Android Auto w/Google Pixel 6 (Google Maps) and Apple Car Play (Apple Maps) on 2022 Tucson SE. Maps working perfectly on Apple Car Play w/Turn-by-Turn voice from Iphone. Google Maps works, showing Turn-by-Turn from Pixel but NO voice. Maps work on Pixel w/voice when not in car.
Can someone help - what settings should I use to get voice
TIA

You need to check the volume on your cell phone and on your car. Volume on the steering wheel and on radio should work. Or check your setting on sound, maybe it s at the lowest.
Plus you have a volume control , cell phone, infontainment, nav maps and passenger if he or she has a big mouth. LOL

I would check on your Android phone under settings to insure everything is set correctly. Find someone with an Android phone and have them pair that phone to your car and see if the Google maps works with turn-by-turn instructions. If so, then you know it is your phone that is the issue and something in the settings is incorrect.

I know we have had issue with Apple car play sometimes (more with my wife's phone than mine) the wireless antenna for the phone is shut off by accident. Along with other issues that we have struggled thru for 99% of the time it is the phone that is causing the issue.

If you haven't done so already, check the settings in Google Maps. To get into settings, tap the colored circle at the upper right corner of the screen.

Settings | Navigation Settings: Mute Status-Unmuted, Play voice over Bluetooth-On, Play voice during phone calls-On (if desired), Play audio cues-On. You can test with Play test sound.

The problem, as I have discovered, is that the moron engineers at Google have disabled the ability to turn off "Do Not Disturb" while driving (used to be able to do this). So on some systems as soon as Android Auto is enabled, DND comes on - thus no voice.
What a bunch of clowns at Google - it's back to my IPhone
Thanks to everybody who offered helpful suggestions

Try this, seems to work for some people for some reason: go to Google maps, when it is not connected to the car; settings, navigation settings, turn off play voice over Bluetooth. There is also a sound setting for voice guidance under settings, sound, voice guidance under Settings in the Tucson infotainment. This could also just be a Google Pixel problem, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note20 and android auto and Google maps works fine for me.

The only way that I was able to make AA work on the Pixel was to ruthlessly turn off every instance of Do Not Disturb on the phone. Include also any scheduled stuff (FYI, Google stupidly turns on DND when you're in driving mode without giving a chance to make a decision - what a bunch of idiots. Why have hands free commo if you're not allowed to use it ).
Once I did the above, my android auto works perfectly!
