This was sent to me by one of my buddies. His friend (who has a Veloster N) received this and I’m kind of worried now. I did go on the Hyundai recall page and it says my car falls under this but when I try to make an appt with my local dealer it says no recalls are active for my car? Hella sus. Anyone else following up on this?

There is a general recall for all wet 8-DCT transmissions. But, as of yet, Hyundai has not issued a fix for it.

The dealers have also been instructed to not sell any more new cars with the DCT installed, so it generally affects everyone. With a sell stop on all the new cars, my guess is that Hyundai will issue a fix for the recall asap.

Do a search; this is about a month or more old a few of us have had it done. In my opinion it definitely made the car smoother and in sport mode in my opinion the car feels faster. But if you do the search there’s the exact recall campaign(some dealers say there’s none)

1st dealer told me there was no recall (I guess it’s a service bulletin) anyhow they wouldn’t do anything; another member on the board ran my vin for me and took a pic showing the open campaign. So 2nd dealer I made the appointment online and put in the campaign number where it asked what service I wanted done; went to dealer and the service advisor was real cool and said his buddy had his Sonata NLine done a week or 2 earlier

So, it just so happens that I have my scheduled visit for my 15,000 mile tune up this morning. I have a list of things for them to address, and now this. I will keep you all posted on what they tell me. I am curious, as mine is a lease, how this will play out. At what point could I request a buy-back, or get out of the lease early?

Things to address today:

15K regular maint.
Wiper Fluid Won't Come out, I believe line from pump to nozzles is damaged
TCU Update (planned on this before recall)
TPMS reading low by a few PSI. Those suck.
Drivers seat right bolster area is popping on hard left turns. It's getting worse. Like a bolt is stripped or something.

Other than that, I do enjoy the car a lot. Great value for money. Just want to know what's going on with recall and how it affects me longer term.

For sure keep us in the loop please. My driver seat does that from time to time as well but hasn’t gotten bad to where it needs to be addressed. I have a Sparco seat I plan on putting on sometime in the future anyways. Only problem I’ve had with the car is both headlights would get water in them but warranty covered them. Well one, I get the other put on this Friday. Hope everything comes out well with yours✌🏽

So I called Hyundai and was basically told to "hold tight" and wait to see what the remedy is. I guess that means I can just drive it and hope that it doesn't blow up, or leave me stranded.

Dealer visit was uneventful. Got TCU update but haven't driven enough to make any judgements. Car drove well enough anyway so I'm not sure I will notice anything.

They did tighten a bolt on the seat they said was loose, so that's fun. Anyway, let's see what happens. Maybe a 6MT Elantra N is what I need.

I was just thinking about the Elantra N myself lol. But if for any reason this recall goes down bad I’ll stay away from Hyundai all together. That’s just me though

I have been looking online for suspension parts for my Kona N-Line (long story, developed a bent tie rod in the first 60 days, warranty wouldn't cover it (so the dealer said), got that fixed now I have at least a bad wheel hub), and there's a lot that have been absolutely totaled. I wonder how many are from this, versus people just being dumb.

What do you guys plan on doing after you noticed this recall on your vehicle? I got a sonata n line 21 and it is in the list too. Will you keep driving it? take it to the dealership and ask for a loaner car? or maybe file for a lemon with a lawyer? My car has 13k miles got tcu update and everything and runs smooth no problems at all. Lets keep each other posted.

Can't do much until the fix for the recall is actually announced and available. Then the dealers will be slammed as usual.

Basically using is as I need but using the older Ford's for short around the town trips.

According to the NHTSA recall report RCLRPT-22V746-3189.PDF (nhtsa.gov) there are 6,840 Sonatas impacted.

I also received an Email from NHTSA with the following in bold print:
Your vehicle MAY be involved in a safety recall and MAY create a safety risk for you or your passengers. If left unrepaired, a potential safety defect could lead to injury or even death. Safety defects must be repaired by a dealer at no cost to you.

Called my local dealership to schedule the TCU update and was told that I needed a recall attached to my VIN to do it. Checked online and it shows the only recall I have is the 236 transmission recall (for 2.5T N-Line), which has no solution. So I'm guessing the TCU issue is build-date dependent. Just a heads up.
