I have been following this forum for a couple months due to transmission issues with our 2021 Santa Fe Limited 2.5
I was able to make an appointment at our local dealership and wrote the tech a long list of persistent problems quoting this forum. Exaxmple: Jolting into 1st / Reverse. Shakiness in stop and go. Slamming when coming to a moderate stop etc.

Resoltion: They claimed that as of yesterday 08/18/2022 hyundai has announced a recall for those transmissions. I haven't been able to find it online (yet) but after they called me back they said they resolved the issue. They replaced the control module or updated the software (can't tell from the work order) and it was a SIGNIFICANT improvement from how I brought it there. My wife and I are going to drive it around but as of right now it seems to be fixed. Will post again is problem comes back up and I can post the warranty repair order if it's helpful to anyone.
Yes, PLEASE PLEASE post the warranty repair order here OR send it directly to me as a conversation. I found this yesterday on the thread, TCU update - user "dlsdds" states: Was told needed update. the update preformed was T8N20DA17R0- TM, DN8, NXT 2.5T TCU update. Our 2022 Santa Fe DCT died earlier this month. I am trying to gather as much documentation as I can for BBB claim I filed.

Ouch sorry, +1 for my failure list. That date fits square in the Jan-March time frame where almost all DCT failures occurred. So it follows the failure modes previously discussed. It's not surprising, if the dealer wasn't BS'ing you, that Hyundai recalled all the affected transmissions before they continue to fail in the middle of a freeway and cause injury. People may be getting recall notices if this is correct. Next time you are in, if you can get the recall number, we can look it up here and see just exactly what models (SF/Sonata) and the dates/serial numbers.

I know, it's a pain, but at least they are stepping up to get you a new one and it should be solid after that.

Hope we can learn of a VIN range soon, or a build-date range. At least one 2022 reported is almost 7 months earlier than mine, so it's possible only 2021s, and early 2022s, are involved. I hope so, but want to know either way. If mine needs it too, I'd like to get it done before embarking on our 5K-mile long trip Sep 09. It's almost 1K miles now, and I'm not going to use it prior to the trip. Build date is 4/9/22, by the way.

Just chiming in to say yes, please do let us know the recall number once you’re able to find it, as I’d like to save it in case anything happens to ours and I need to discuss with the service department.

One final comment here about our 2022 Santa Fe DCT failure and our demise. Our case met the criteria and was accepted by BBB Auto Line last week. We were assigned a Dispute Resolution Specialist at that time. Today, 08/22/22 - I have been informed that Hyundai has agreed to work with BBB and myself (exact words, "in a back-and-forth fashion") to resolve this matter within the next 2 weeks. After this 2 week period - should Hyundai or I not find a mutual agreement - then the case goes into arbitration. However, I really don't expect this case to escalate that far. I firmly believe Hyundai will step up to the plate and do what is right. We have formally offered to accept an equal or newer replacement SF Limited. Preferably a 2023 - as I have found 2 nearby that are acceptable to the trim we had before and price range. Just a wait and see game now.

I didn't know the BBB could be a conduit to handle a lemon law dispute (MUCH better than having to hire a lawyer, IMO), but good to know at least it's a possibility. Plus ALWAYS better to leave lawyers out, although I'm sure the BBB has lawyers of their own, but with the huge exception they're not looking at making a killing with damages, etc., but just to resolve the issue (right?). Hope I never have to go thru that, but can't afford to just dump a vehicle I have trouble with (and lose my butt in the process) anymore (thanks cancer), so if something like that was to happen to me, I'd have to go thru the same process. And not having absolutely anything else in my radar, I'd gladly settle with a new SF too. I really like mine too, and how it drives with the DCT-8, but I knew all along it wasn't a smart move on Hyundai's part to put that thing on a family SUV (or all other regular 1.6T vehicles with the DCT-7, for that matter). Hope it holds up on my SUV though :); we'll see. Glad to hear your case was resolved like that; good luck with the new one.

Thanks Brian L. for the important and pertinent posts/ info. The DCT tranny is my one and only concern with this car albiet not keeping me awake at night. Before purchasing I had spoken at length with my Mechanic about the actual car itself and the brand-the DCT was mentioned- saved me mucho time. Being proactive all my life at 3k I will take it in for a tranny fluid check.

I'm on the same boat too. I just got an update from BBB autoline on my case (eligible), which kicks off the 2-week window before it goes into arbitration. I think my 21 Sante Fe Calli (purchased on 4/17/2021 - likely Jan-Mar build) has the same issue, including the blue link email notification. It has been sitting at the dealer for the last 50+ days with no update. I am hoping to get either a replacement or a buyback.

Hey guys, can either of you post the phone number for BBB Auto Line, in case I (or anybody else here) ever need it? Or is it a local thing only? I live in TX, by the way. Thank you.

I didn't call any specific number. I filed the complaint online - it's pretty intuitive.

However, there is a number in the link above for any questions.

Today (8-23-22) I received an email from the service department at my Hyundai dealer to schedule an appointment ASAP due to "Factory Recall #2 - TCU Update". My vehicle is a 2021 Santa Fe Calligraphy 2.5T with a build date of 05/13/2021. I have not experienced any issues with the vehicle. Appointment is in two days.

That info is perfect, and also includes a number. Thanks a million. I already bookmarked it, just in case I ever need it.

Thank you for that info. May I ask you if there's any info when you log in to your 'MyHyundai' account? Hopefully yes, so we can check, and know if there isn't anything there, it's because our vehicle is excluded. Mine is a hair less than 11 months newer than yours (4/9/22). Thank you. By the way, I turned off notifications; was tired of getting all kinds of crap from Hyundai.

Nothing on MyHyundai yet. Also, when I checked "safety & engine recalls" on MyHyundai for my VIN, nothing shows up. May take another day or two?

Each state has their own procedures re lemons. Here in Florida, we filed first with the state attorneys' office when I had a problem with a Lincoln MKZ.

I found this for Texas Lemon Law
Texas Lemon Law | TxDMV.gov

Thanks man. The TX lemon law is total crap, just like I suspected. It probably takes months to get a hearing, and then they have 60 more days to respond. Who the heck can wait that long? Oh, and if you get a loaner or rental, the days don't count. It's TX, so dealers/manufacturers probably redacted that law. I'd just work with dealer/Hyundai, and probably get better results, and much quicker. The TX lemon law is like a last resort thing, and I'm almost sure arbitrators/mediators still protect dealers/manufacturers anyway, so probably a waste of time and $35. Ha ha. But I'm sure states with better governments have much better lemon laws.

When you visit the dealer, can you please ask them to provide you the recall number, as well as any additional details (name, etc.) and share that with us here?

I’d like to have it for reference when I talk to my dealer service department (have not been contacted yet about our 2021 Calligraphy)

Will do.

The one I filed in Florida, never went to a hearing. Following the final repair attempt I still had issues and Lincoln Corporate ruled in my favor almost immediately. I had a 2013 2.0T MKZ and ended up getting a new 2014 2.0 Hybrid. My cost was just the "useful" milage on the 2013 and they were very generous with that as well. I owned the 2013 about 13 months but had Lincoln loaners for about a total of 16 weeks (it was more then just one issue). I loved the MKz hybrid and traded it in for the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe in Jan 2020, no Santa Fe Hybrids were out at that time. Like I said earlier, I filed it with the State Attorney General's office. BTW it was the head of my Lincoln dealer's service department that recommended to use the Lemon law, he was a great guy
