2021 Santa Fe slowly losing coolant

My 5 month old Santa Fe SEL AWD with a 2.5L engine has been losing coolant slowly since the first day I bought it. The coolant started at the max line in the reservoir and now it is one inch below the min line. I always check it first thing in the morning after overnight parking. I only put 5k miles on it. No visible leaks. Took to the dealership and they did a pressure test and they could not find a leak. They told me it was normal to lose coolant over time. I find it really hard to believe that it is normal for a new car to lose that much coolant in 5 months of light driving. It is my first Hyundai so no idea what to expect. Does anyone have similar experience? Is it normal for Hyundai?

That is an “overflow” reservoir designed to capture coolant that has expanded from heat. In the “old days” that coolant was lost at the radiator cap. Today, running engines much hotter, and in a closed system, that overflow coolant is recovered when the engine cools. That is why most reservoirs have “check when cold” marked on them. Filling past the MAX level when cold will surely lead to overflow.

Reservoir is higher when hot, lower when cold.

OP may have had some air trapped in the engine coolant passages that could account for the losses. If there continue to be losses I might be concerned.

I really can't believe the people that talk about Turbo's, DCT's and such can't grasp basic fluid thermodynamics?
Amazing and has made my day, thank you!

A car that has no trace of leaks but still loses antifreeze, most likely has a bad head gasket or a cracked head itself. If the oil is not showing signs of antifreeze contamination, ( Milky frothy oil) then the antifreeze can be leaking into the exhaust side of the head and be burnt out the exhaust. Typically in that case you would see white smoke coming out the exhaust pipe, but not always depending on the amount of leakage. There are tests that the dealerships can do to check for this. I'm not trying to throw worst case scenario up to you but if you don't smell it and you find any leakage, well it's going somewhere!

Hello
İ have same Car with same engine 2.5 GDI 180 PS and i had this issue. As i live in Saudi Arabia the staff in the dealer told me it is normal to lose some coolant. İt contunied to lose coolant until 30k Miles. Then it become normal it was not losing coolant. Today i found that there was 2 leak holes in the radiator. İt leaked before but it stoped by itself this 2 holes. Please check your radiator. Because it is almost covered by bumper you can not see leak
