Just went out (while my coffee brewed and checked my "Preferred Tech" and it seems the red plastic along the edge of the trunk lid is just red plastic. It is bright daylight here, so hard to see the side lights were on, but they were.

So we'll have to see what other folks says about theirs. (FYI: if, or I should say WHEN, our local Kingston Ontario dealership sells the 25 'Lantras on their lot over the next few weeks I'll see if I can find one on the streets to follow and see if maybe that strip is triggered by the brake lights. Worse case scenario, I might need to ask Dr. Google ;P )

Airborne, is it when you have your light "full" on ? And is it as bright as the actual tail lights?

I was seeing nothing (again in bright morning sunlight).

'nother question: my model doesn't have the signal lights built into the side mirrors (wish it did, miss them from my 2013 accent 🥺) Do you have the side-mirror lights option, Airborne? Do you, Sailpowerd?

What I'm wondering is if certain packages don't have the lightup trunkbar as an option 🤷🏻‍♂️

it lights up for all functions, except i cant check braking. and our mirrors have the blinking signals in the front, on the outer part of each mirror glass, there is a warning triangle for blind spot. kinda useless. our sonata has a head's up display, and the blind spots will come on the heads up, VERY nice. it is like the elantra has everything the sonata does, but only from the b pillar back. up front on the sonata, the headsup displays all kinds of stuff, navigation, radio channells, speed limit, blind spot, cruise control, lfa and lka, it is really nice. the elantra ltd should have it, too

The rear light bar is only on ultimate trim i believe, along with side mirror blinkers. it lights up for me

 

Saw one on road last night and indeed it was all illuminated. I could not tell if limited as was nighttime.

In Canada, LED tail lights and LED side mirror turn signals get added on the Ultimate trim (American LTD trim). I'm pretty sure this is when the lit bar happens.

 

I have the SEL (one step below Limited) with Convenience and Premium packages and mine lights up all the way across.
