Picking up a 2020 Elantra Preferred with Sun & Safety next week and would like to upgrade the halogen headlight bulbs to LED.
Has anyone already done this or looked into doing this?
Thank you!

Nobody has done this yet?
Does anyone know which LED's are compatible to fit without protruding past the rear cover?
I can't seem to find any videos for doing this to a 2020.
Thanks

There are two ways to do this:
1) Go through the fender.

2) Take off the whole bumper assembly and the headlight assembly

3) Bonus: if you want to just change your DRL bulb
Notes: for the DRL, you will want to stick with original P21/5W incandescent bulb because the LED will throw error code and flickering issue. A resistor will help but those get really hot and may damage your assembly, not worth the risk for just the DRL. Replace them every 3-5 years isn't a hard job (if you own the vehicle that long).

Thanks Deathgod, only want to change the halogen low beams to LED. Just worried the length may not allow the end cap on the housing to close.
Was hoping someone else may have already done this and knows which brands of LEDs would fit to allow the end cap to close.
I think the video where the guy remove the whole bumper assembly has the brand of light he used and how he test it at the end. It also shows how he insert the light so you can kinda see the size of the bulbs used. Also, for snowy or rainy weather, I suggest you do warm light, anything below 3500K. Those 6000K advertised on Amazon and Ebay means you are going in the fog, rain, snow with very poor visibility. From your picture, looks like you got the full LED edge on the headlight. Looks real cool man.

Should check the vehicle modification laws in your country and this included vehicle illumination. Headlamps, tail lamps.

In the US by making this alterations and not informing your insurance will relieve them of any coverage in the event of an accident whether its your fault or not.

Live in a sue happy society, major cost in manufacturing is liability coverage, when you make changes to your vehicle, list is quite long, you relieve the OEM of liability and accept it yourself.

What is really weird, legal to advertised and sell these products, but not legal to install them. Most of this crap is coming from China, can't sue China.
The halogen bulbs in my car 2020 are really weak and the angle is not that optimal IMO. In the past couple weeks I had it, I hit the curb twice when turning left to my apartment because I couldn't see anything at my 10 o'clock. I afraid I might run into someone cross the road if the light cannot shine on them. But I also hate those idiots who use illegal bulbs that are too bright and blind my mirror...

Hyundai didn't do a very good job on my 2017 in terms of alignment. No sideways adjustment, just up and down, were adjusted way too low.

Used this method or one like it for proper adjustment.

Replaced both the high and low beams with Sylvania Xtravision's of the same identical type, same 65 watt bulbs but are 30% brighter and perfectly legal.

Also make ultravisions, where the xtravisions are 7 bucks a bulb. run more like 23 bucks, Came to be 100% brighter, but not according to my light meter, more like 31%. Also only last maybe a year if lucky. With history Xtravisions last more like eight years.

Phillips overprice bulbs are the same for very short life and how they can claim 3 times the brightness with the same wattage is beyond me.

Our last compact was rear ended by a drunk, his insurance company was praying they would find other than OEM bulbs in our tails, could have saved them the price of a new vehicle for us. They sure checked. Oh, the ones on TV that advertise the most will screw you the most.

I got a ‘19 Elantra SE and have replaced the low beams with the DD SL1 LEDs they fit with the dust cap cover no issues. Only issue I’m trying to resolve right now is it does throw a bulb out light on my dash but they still work and everything. Might try to wire in a resistor across the low beam wires but I don’t know which wire is the low beam wire on the main power plug for the low beams or if I should see if I can plug one of those plug in style resistors? Just sucks some brands of led bulbs throw a bulb out error light and some don’t...

I ended up using my small hands to get the bulb to lock in and on the driver side I unbolted the fuse box and shifted it away from my dust cap another 1 or so to get me just enough room to get my hand in there as the driver side was definitely the harder to access of the two with it being on the vehicle still. I ordered some error cancellors that plug in between the headlight plug and led bulb hopefully that will get rid of my bulb out error light from the canbus system

Yeah, I heard many LED bulb doesnt use enough wattage for the system to read and see that something is there, thus throw the error code or worst, flickering like crazy. Especially on the DRL light.

I tested it but ended returning the 1157 DRL LED Bulbs. I dont feel safe wiring a hot resistor for it since the DRL will run the moment you start the vehicle and I drove really long distance everyday.

Haven't tried to big headlight yet but will do soon. It was so small in there so will follow your advice to move the fuse box a little bit.

yeah there’s a guy on YouTube though that bought some led bulbs for the DRL with built in resistors or LEDs that are canbus approved and They actually worked and did NOT throw an error code I’m going to try to get those and see for myself. Also, they make a plug in type resistor for the headlight low beams too I’m going to try it and hope it also gets rid of the error light too!
