So wanted to get some input. My front pads need to be changed and I have the rear electronic brake. Is there a way to put it into service mode where the piston retracts or is the only option to do this is to have a scan tool? My rear pads seem like they still have a little life left but when calling a local shop they said they now replace the pads and rotors. Does this seem correct?

Thanks

You must use a scanner to retract the EPB, a $150 scanner will do it. You will find on internet people sharing different 'tricks' to retract the EPB but this can destroy the EPB when you start the car as the car computer doesn't know the new position of the EPB
You don't have to replace the discs, only the pads, unless the discs are very worn
