I have just bought a 2017 Ioniq Limited. Neither the dealer nor Hyundai Customer Care can tell me what kind of plug the Aux Port takes and what the other specs are for the port, like resistance. Does anyone on the forum know?

Are you talking about the USB plug in the front of the console between the two Power Ports (used to be called cigarette lighter ports) - that is standard USB connected to the entertainment system - it will charge your phone but also will play any music you have - I had to buy a regular charger / cigarette lighter plug to charge my GPS and phone because I did not want to play music and the GPS did not like that port. It will take a standard thumb drive or any device with folders and MP3's or WAV's

My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge does not like that port either. If it's doing nothing but charging the phone it's very slow and will take hours to finish. If I'm trying to use the Android Auto app to put the Google map on the screen to navigate by, the cell phone gets very warm and the battery is constantly discharging.

That USB port is really only meant for Jump (thumb) drives to attach instead of a CD player like cars used to have - I have been to a few concerts where they sell their albums on thumb drives just for cars like the Ioniq - really not a charging port. Get a plug-in charging adapter and use the outboard power ports.

It's an issue. Using Android auto will discharge your phone. The only solution I can see is to use a phone with built in wireless charging and a compatible charging pad. This will keep the phone charged while you have the usb plugged in for android auto.
