Jumping the gun a little, I know, but when do you think we'll have the specs and pics for the 2014 model?
I can't wait to know to see if we get good stuff the 2013 didn't get like HID's, DRL's, memory seats, pandora, bug fixes, steering changes or will it stay the same...
It must not be too far away because I was watching Motortrendtv last week and they started talking about the 2014 kia Forte, which will now have the electric assist w/3 modes like the SF, I bet a lot of people will complain about changing the steering.

I am getting keen on the Santa Fe XL (lwb) but don't want to get dinged on the timing. Hyundai launched the Elantra in Jan of 2011 and revised the model year to 2012 from July, although there were no changes between the two but people were fuming mainly for depreciation!!

I wonder if it will follow suit with the Santa Fe XL (LWB)? I would wait a few months to see....

When the new CM model was introduced in 07 there was not a lot of changes made in 08 or 09. As a matter of fact it seemed that each year something was removed to keep cost down. Rubber on rear bumper, dual exhaust are just two that I recall at this time. The13 DM has just hit the road so I do not see any big change for 2014 other than color choices maybe?

I'm shocked that know one has asked about the NAV not being a DVD player. My Equinox has that feature with options for a total of three. The one in the front could only be view when the suv was stopped and in park. The two in the back could be on two different movies at one time. Nice features for kids in the back. The rear option adds 1200 to the price.

I'm starting to see a lot of 2014 model reviews in car magazines..., shouldn't we know by now what the 2014 SFS will be like?
Specs should be coming out soon, right?

Also, what is the last month to buy a 2013 model? When dealerships sell cheap to make room for 2014 inventory.

Will there be a 2014 model? Especially so soon after launch.

Other than a different year code in the VIN number, there's no obligation to make changes EVERY year.

Both GM Europe (Opel/Vauxhall) and Hyundai, to my knowledge will sometimes continue the identical spec model through more than one model year - and on occasions introduce changes part way through the model year using .5 as the year identifier.

Ruperts:

I don't think it's about an obligation per se. But we all know that the next model year will often include tweaks that were made from one year to the next. And others, like the Civic from 2012 to 2013, not so much tweaks as almost completely new model, even though it had been just redesigned for 2012.

While I don't think that will necessarily happen here, Hyundai will undoubtedly make tweaks and Joe is likely just wanting to see those tweaks first. Just IMHO.

So, what's the last month to get a 2013 model? (before the lot is filling up with 2014 models?) I know at one point, dealers want to get rid of old inventory to make room for new stuff, that's when great deals can be had, that's why I wanna know what month that happens.

It varies, but here, at least, it has been August or September at the earliest. In years past fall was always the time, unless it was a completely new model, like last year with the 2013s coming out in August.

By the time I get one in a few months, they should have updates on it and no bugs on the last 2013 models, my only concern is steering wandering at 75 mph, which is why I'll do a long test drive if there's one I like.
Other thing is financial, wife got a job a few months ago, but she's only getting part time and hasn't finsihed her probationary period, so we'll need to save money and hope for more hours, will only be able to afford a lease anyway.

I was looking at the 2014 Tucson, which is a complete redesign for 2014 and they mentioned it would come with bi-xenon.
Not confirmed, since specs are not out yet, but one would think that if they put bi-xenon on the 2014 Tucson, they might do the the same on the 2014 SF, unless it will be only for Canada like the 2013 SF.

And by then the new Highlander will be out for us to compare.

Oooo, really? Sorry, coming from a 2009 Highlander to a SF LWB, the madeover '14 HL is...well...butt ugly IMHO. I am soooo glad I did not wait for the 2014 HL to be revealed before committing to the SF. I realize looks are subjective, but being a former HL owner, I would like to think I have some credibility. :D

More importantly though, you are comparing apples to oranges. The HL is a bigger vehicle and seats up to 8 and therefore, is more in the class of the SF LWB 6 or 7 seater, not the SFS which seats 5.

This is a very interesting discussion for me as I am trying to decide between Toyota and Hyundai. I think I can feel confident in the quality of Hyundai at this point, but I am still struggling with the poor resale values when compared with Toyota and Honda

My wife's Rav4 didn't hold it's value as good as I thought it would, but it has been a good vehicle. But I guess I really haven't looked at the value of other vehicle of the same age and miles either.

I'm a little confused about the 2013 and 2014 Santa Fe models. When I google the 2014s, it really just brings up 2013s, even if the review says 2014. My wife and I were about to buy a 2013 Santa Fe this September (the 7 seater) but then we thought we might as well wait until the 2014s come out. I asked the dealer, and he said they'd likely be out at the end of September, beginning of October. But I can't find anything about them. There was talk about power lift rear doors/lift in here. Well, the 2013 model my wife and I were looking at had that function. Which only adds to my confusion.

Red the reason your confused is you're in the the 5 seater or Santa Fe Sport sub forum, even the fully loaded 2013 Santa Fe Sport doesn't have to option for the power lift rear door at least here in NA which is why many are hoping the 2014 will. The 7 seater 2013 however does hence why the one you and your wife were looking at had one.

I was at the dealer this morning for a free car wash. Asked our salesman when they expect to have the 2014 SFS on the lot. He said in approximately three weeks. I also asked him what was new for 2014. He mentioned memory seat, cooled seats, HID headlights and LED back lights. He didn't say anything about the auto lift gate.

Dude I hope you aren't pulling any legs here about the ventilated seats!!! that's a core requirement for me and is the primary reason why I haven't seriously considered the SF. Finally!!! Pathfinder was potential until I read about their transmissions issues where there appears to be no permanent fix.
