I've only had my car a year. Dealership will not help. On cold starts it does not start. The override where you hold the button for 30 seconds does not work anymore. I do hear the relay and fuel pump I think kicking in. All lights are normal and at full power. I've checked fuses and relays and break sensors and spark plugs but nothing is working. My son (he's an airplane mechanic and uses some knowledge that carries over to cars) ruled out the alternator. I did try to the key fob trick and it work once but with it being intermittent cold start it's difficult to say if it's just a low battery in the key fob. The key fob battery was replaced less than a year ago. My son thinks it's the starter. My husband and I both went through each fuse and nothing.

So you tried using the top end of the fob to physically push in on the Start button with foot on brake and still won't crank? That is a good solution if the fob battery is low to where the car module doesn't see the key being in the car. When you push the start button with the fob, there is a chip inside the fob that is read by the pushbutton start to allow engine cranking.

I would also have your car's 12v battery load tested at one of the national chain auto parts stores like AutoZone. They will do it for free. They can also do a starter test and alternator test just so you have those 3 things verified if they are good or bad.
